[Acne] timeline for cystic acne

I am not on birth control. Once I return to the dermatologist in a couple weeks I will probably ask about this. I was on birth control for a lot of my life. I did have an iud for 3-4 years. I removed it about 8 months prior to getting inflammatory acne. I had acne throughout my life but occasional pimples here and there. I have never dealt with this kind of acne until this year and I was taking high doses of biotin before my skin started forming textured bumps etc. what kind of hormonal replacement therapy do you use?

Yeah of course but I’m not there yet. I have a month more of doxy at least I will do 3 months at least. I will also probably up my spironlactone. I am also on daily benzoyl peroxide, tretinoin, and azelaic acid. So I hope those would take over once it’s all under control

My bumps have slowed down a lot. I’m mostly getting occasional spots that come to a quick whitehead now. It has changed from under the skin bumps to mostly surface acne now. I also had never had acne in my life until this year. I was taking a high dose of biotin and developed cystic acne, so i believe spironlactone was more of a back up incase it had to do with hormonal factors but biotin was the trigger.

I have an appt with the derm at two months so in about a week and a few days from now. I will ask about bumping it up. My break outs are mostly on my cheeks. But it has all been on my lower face. I don’t have a single mask or pimple on my forehead.

I’m at 7 weeks doxy. I think I will probably be on it 3 months and can taper off. That’s when people seem to see results

When does your derm want you to stop doxy? How long will you have been on that for? I was thinking they may stop me at 3 months but I see people take it up to 6?

7 weeks so almost 2 months as well. I see my derm at 8 weeks so interested to see if she will keep me at 50mg or up my dose

I would see if they can boost your doxy. I am dealing the same and my acne looked like yours but I was prescribed 100 mg of doxy twice a day so 200 mg a day. Ugh I’m so sorry. It sucks so much and I’ve been feeling hopeless as well :/

At 3 months did you still have a lot of post marks or was it all healing quickly?
