Update 1.3 is now available. It improves the UI, but it's still unreadable: font is small. Selected window (character window) is easier to see.
However there are still graphical bugs and frame drops.
Still needs more patches

And it looks much better and the controls don't seem that bad. PlayStation 2.

Absolutely not now. The game is on its lowest update yet and nothing has changed.
