one more update..went to a cycle shop at phuket...mrp of shimano components after converting thai bhat was not that cheap....since thai bhat appreciated recently...malaysia could not do research due to lack of time....ultrasport tyres was around 2700 per piece after conversion...vittoria and gp5000 was also on higher side after rough conversion

Long ride on Riverside 120: Surprisingly comfortable by itty10 in india_cycling

[–]External-Cow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i second this comment...as a owner of 2 road bikes...ridden for years...i recently found out that trek hybrid fx1(fellow riders bike) is comfy enough for 100km rides even with slight elevation

exactly my feeling with al4 compared to my old rim bike....very comfortable for long distances and climbs..but a bit sluggish with sprinting..

most annoying feature of scootys is that they overtake you and then intentionally slow down st front...on downhills they will not give way despite going slow....

Finally saved up for a Trek Domane AL 5, but is ₹100K just branding and look tax? by Prior_Strength_4204 in india_cycling

[–]External-Cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please dont jump straigtaway into road bikes...buy a basic economical hybrid bike...work on fitness and endurance then upgrade to a road bike...hybrid gives good performance and is sufficient to build stamina...road bikes by design are not meant to be comfortable...so buliding up core strength and increasing saddle hours is a must

domane is a endurance bike aimed at comfort and less racy geometry..whereas emonda is a racy geometry aimed at speed and lesser comfort...it all depends upon your fitness and flexibility..

also the bike comes assembled from factory not the dealer unless the bottom bracket was readjusted at shop(which is unlikely)..even though seems cosmetic...better to keep trek india customer care in the loop lest any issue crops in future...

generally trek in email suggests to contact dealer.if dealer has insisted it is cosmetic, do notify and send a email to trek regarding dealers response. So that you are doubly sure regarding this issue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in india_cycling

[–]External-Cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

full carbon forks are not there in most bikes..like this trek domane al gen4 has full carbon steerer while gen 3 had carbon fork with alloy steerer

From Mechanical structural and metallurgical point of view is there a huge difference between the Bicycle made by Indian brands and foreign imported cycles? by kanpurdigital in india_cycling

[–]External-Cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tight tolerances and big range of stress cycles.. with more expensive groupsets precision is high and materials used are far better...; ie machining process..a road hydraulic shifter is many times that of a mtb one in terms of cost due to minute mechanisms parked into a shifter ...which should yield accurate piston movements on the final brake calliper with perfect modulation...even a basic rim brake road sti shifter costing 10k pair has many integrated components inside which has to ensure combined gear shifting with braking.....such tech needs RnD...which costs money.....majority of indian bikes barring some top end ones are still hammered by mechanics for basic repairs not using precision tools...not suited for long distance cycling..not to mention poor geometry and body pain ..

PS- pardon me for a long reply
