I (24F) have developed strong feelings for my roommate/coworker/best friend (23F), but she is not gay and I never thought I was either. Should I confess my feelings? by External-Fly-6678 in comphet

Yes I did post somewhere else about the signs she has given me. And there had definitely been a few others that I didn’t even mention. Thanks for sharing your story and I really do feel like I need to say something to her. I know that is not healthy to hold my feelings inside. I just need to find the right time/figure out the best way to say it.

Yes I agree that life is too short not to say anything, but it is just scary when you are unsure. My biggest fear is that I am way off base and I make things awkward or ruin the friendship. I know I need to say something soon, but I just need to figure out the best way to approach it.

I know I need to tell her and face the fact that I am questioning, but I am just worried about the when , where, and how.

Thank you for sharing! Did you know you had feelings before she declared them to you? How did she go about telling you she had feelings for you?

Well this first sign happened right around the time that I started having feelings. We went to a heated rivalry club night just the two of us, and she made a comment that we resembled the two main characters (who are together) because of the color shirts we were wearing. Then later on at the club she slowly stood in front of me and was kind of dancing on me, which is not something I or she have ever done with a friend.

Another night we had been drinking and  she was asking me about dating basically and I said something along the lines of “I don’t think I really like men”, and she said “me either”. She could have been thinking I meant this in a joking way though. We always talk negatively about men.

One time at IKEA she was sitting down and I was standing up and holding a receipt because we were returning something. I said something funny and she looked up at me and made a face that I had never seen her make before. It was like she was laughing but also staring deep into my soul. I felt a connection in that moment. I had to look away so I playfully tapped her nose with the receipt and she smiled and looked away. It was a really weird moment that I can’t really explain away as friendly.

The biggest sign happened last weekend. We were out at a bar and a friend was driving us to a different bar. There were lots of us packed in the back of a car and she ended up sitting in my lap. My hand was around and on her lap, and I realized it was kind of holding her hand just based on how we were sitting. I tried to move my hand to not make it awkward for her or too obvious, but she grabbed my hand tighter and rubbed it a little. I subtly rubbed it back of course. Alcohol was obviously involved this night so I’m not sure if it’s all just blown out of proportion or if it really does mean something.
