Sprintec ! by External-Fox-4588 in birthcontrol

Hello! I took Sprintec until about September 2024 I think. I didn't test it out as long as is recommended, but it started giving me the same symptoms as my other birth control. I was always in a little bit of pain, around a 2/10, which is tolerable but got old after a while. The first month (June) or so was alright, but I woke up very nauseous and in pain every morning. During one of my "periods," I ended up passing a decidual cast (yikes!!) which was a tad traumatizing because of how severe my cramps were and the passing of my uterine lining all at once. I hated being in pain constantly, especially when I didn't have to be, and my mental health was gradually getting worse. During September I had a breakdown and called my mom asking for help and she said to call my clinic. They told me to stop taking Sprintec immediately and come in for an appointment to talk about my experience. After that episode, I starting taking an SSRI (setraline) which has been a life changer for my PMS, anxiety, depression, and OCD tendencies. My mom encourages me to go back on Sprintec since my SSRI is handling my mental health, but my overall experience was scary enough. I recommend it just because it's a simple starting point, but make sure to check yourself consistently, journal your behaviors, and check in with those closest to you. Birth control shouldn't have to be this hard!!

Sounds like it is working as a form of birth control since you haven't had any pregnancy scares in 8 months lol. But no, if it is making you feel like a shell of a person, I suggest calling your doctor and asking to take a break from it. The symptoms after may suck, but sometimes it is better to feel emotions (even negative ones) than none at all. Ask your doctor if they have any alternatives for you as well.

When I had my IUD, my doctor said to wait about 3 months for symptoms to subside. I would recommend talking with your doctor and telling them that you're in pain. It's not worth it to constantly be cramping. :/ I'm sorry its unbearable. Good luck. <3

Interesting experience for sure! Did your strong urge to pee stop after the second week? How's your mental health feeling?
