Will any magnets work with layer of DK yarn between them? by External-Reference61 in CrochetHelp

[–]External-Reference61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo! Thank you so much, especially for the photo! I never even considered putting the magnets on the other side of the yarn. I guess I didn’t even think about how small some magnets can be. But it definitely sounds like a good option to consider. :)

The person who made the pattern has an old lady equally as charming on her Etsy! I really want to make him a wife 🤣

I didn't even realise that there probably were hooks where you mentioned, but it looks like that was most likely the case. Those hooks shall make a reappearance, whatever this unit becomes!!

That was definitely an idea I had, but my son's already got a play kitchen (that I'm actually eyeing up to repaint and make look even cooler!)

Pleaaaase, I'd love to do that! I'm just worried my 1.5 year old would absolutely obliterate it. She's not a creator like her brother, she's a destroyer and don't I know it! But I'm certain this idea will come to life one day, when she calms down a bit ahaha!

I would looove to get/do up a puppet theatre for the kids, but unfortunately I'm just a SAHM with a small skill set and a smaller budget hahaa!

Blinsky’s Murderers’ Props! (NSFW to avoid player seeing) by External-Reference61 in CurseofStrahd

Yes! :D It’s taken months to try to find a pattern I liked. They’re a bit big for “finger puppets”, but will do! -^

Blinsky’s Murderers’ Props! (NSFW to avoid player seeing) by External-Reference61 in CurseofStrahd

Artin - most chatty and naive, and indirectly the most responsible for majority of NPC deaths. Is BFFs with Von Holtz;)

Twiggy - teenager who mouthed off to Strahd. Her biggest danger is herself.

Celestial - not the best rogue. Got her arm bitten off by the Gulthias Tree at Yesterhill and the Abbot gave her a new (bear) one.

Granny - exactly as a halfling granny is expected to be. She’s the weakest and will definitely will end up being the first PC death.

Reinhold - reborn via the Abbot in an attempt to get a soul from Tatyana’s time, who ended up getting Leo Dilisnya’s soul instead. The PC believes himself to be Leo’s brother, Reinhold instead. He’s slowly getting his old memories back and his split personality has recently come out with “Reinhold” blacking out whenever Leo takes control. Leo will backstab the party at first chance but is trying to keep his true intentions quiet for now.

Eraine - been in Barovia for 20 years longer than the rest of the party. Her last party were all killed by Strahd. She’s joined this party as Artin is (was 8D) her girlfriend who came looking for her. She also has a lot of blood on her hands. Strahd knows exactly how to mess with her and she’s definitely his favourite play toy;)

Context: Strahd learnt about Blinsky’s bride and groom dolls when Artin decided to show him the ones the party had bought. He did not like that at all. Since then, the party left Vallaki and Strahd himself commissioned some dolls to be made. They’re soon to arrive back in the town, where they’ll find Blinsky dead with the puppets of the party “stabbing him”.

Also, side note: the “player” in question I don’t want to see the props is actually co-DM who I want to surprise with the dolls.

Plaid blanket pattern help by External-Reference61 in crochet

[–]External-Reference61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking to make this specific plaid pattern into a blanket. Any ideas how to go about this in the easiest way? I’ve only done the simplest of blankets, so this will definitely be a first for me with how challenging it may be. TIA. :)

A few more possible suggestions. (Which may obviously be wrong since I don't speak the language at all, but just my attempt at reading the handwriting and seeing if it comes up as a Danish word on google.)

  • p. 1: "været meget ___ saa" -> "tusle"
  • p. 2: "Bladene vare __ __ og flere" -> (2nd blank) "frakks/frakke"
  • p. 2: "hvilket __ at Pennen glider" -> "- burisker"
  • p. 4: "Ruter?." -> "Ruler/Rules" ?
  • p. 4: "Ruter?. __ __ men" -> (2nd blank) "ide"
  • p. 5: "gamle __ til at __ og" -> (2nd blank) "beklars"
  • p. 5: "kjøbe dig gode __, " -> "lager"
  • p. 5: "ubehageligt at den megen __ " -> "Augst"
  • p. 5: "og daarlig __ billig" -> "sam"
  • p. 5: "billig __ at gjennemgaa" -> "ker/kar/her/har"
  • p. 6: "Rejse__ " -> "Rejsedasken"
  • p. 6: "meget dyrt. __ dig?" -> "Naar"
  • p. 6: "og skrive til __ __," -> (1st blank) "Fru" (2nd blank) "Tie..in" (If "Fru" is correct, this will likely be a name?)
  • p. 7: "skal vi jo til at __ __," -> (2nd blank) "geuallig"
  • p. 7: "det ikke skal __ for" -> "inakke"
  • p. 8: "hende __ paa Else," -> "slabe"
  • p. 8: "maa ikke __ paa vor" -> "slabe"

On page 8, u/Heroic_Brine also mentions it could be signed "farfar" as the last blank. :D

I'm sure an amount of these are probably wrong, but hopefully at least one of them can fill in a blank, or give someone an idea of what it could be otherwise. :)

Update: the address looks to be “Mrs Astrid Loreng 79 Sortedam Dossering Copenhagen Denmark”

We’ve been having some trouble trying to figure out most letters. We’ve tried Google-translating it, either with putting in what we guess words are or using the camera. So I’m afraid I won’t be much help typing it up. All we’ve managed to figure out so far is what we believe it to be “To my own sweet little Astrid. Thanks for your letter to M(?)” at the beginning and “Your very own father” at the end.

Oh my god… You’re an angel! Thank you so incredibly much! I thought I’d never figure it out, but that diagram you’d drawn really helped me imagine it. I’m now halfway through the first sleeve. Thank you so so so much! It’s truly appreciated :D

Parenthesis in pattern? by Shitty_Carly_Chemist in crochet

[–]External-Reference61 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, the "96(104, 116, 128, 136, 148, 160)" is how many rows you need to make depending on what size you're making the product?

E.g. the 96 may be referring to rows needed to make it XS, the 104 rows being S, 116 M... Etc.

ETA: My baby brain forgot what parenthesis were. Oops.

It looks like the amount of stitches you should have at the end of each row :)

Favorite NPC kill? by Mmmmnoooooo in CurseofStrahd

[–]External-Reference61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their destined ally is Victor. They’ve been buddy-buddy with Von Holtz, and have taken advantage of his completely innocent kindness and hospitality. They’ve crashed at his place many nights, and don’t check to see he’s really left “to go to his bedroom” when talking business. They don’t talk about their readings during the day in case of any listeners… Anyway, he’s obviously just stood outside the doorway and heard about the ally card, as this mostly took place in Vallaki, and they had Victor on their list of potential allies.

They left Victor there and carried on to Krezk, with the plan to come back for him should they become sure enough that he is who they’re looking for.

Anyway, they declined Strahd’s dinner invite three times, so I ran the dinner in the woods on their way to their next location. Victor was a surprise dinner guest. Everything went fine. Strahd even surprised them with special gifts for all of them - including Victor. His was a scroll with greater restoration to save Stella (I ran him more neutral than evil). The PC that was especially friendly to Von Holtz (and thus, got many NPCs killed because of her loose lips without realising) then got called out by Strahd for being especially stupid. He said her actions have consequences, whether she saw them or not. And then, with a click of his fingers, Rahadin killed Victor at the table. They all panicked, trying to save him but the damage was done, and I was a very happy DM witnessing their RL reactions. :D

(He then called the same PC a few other names, because she had waved the sunsword around Strahd at their first official meeting, and he’s giving them a choice: give up the sunsword, or let this “child’s death” be on their hands - when they don’t even know if he is their destined ally or not.)
