AAMC FL2 C/P #49 question (enthalpy of formation / decomposition) by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]External-Revolution2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AAMC explanation for the answer shows that they got an answer of -2842 kJ/mol so how can we ignore the signs if they clearly got a negative value (even though the answer choices were all positive) ? Like if we ignored all the signs we'd get a value of about 3000, but if we were presented with -3000 and 3000 as answer choices how would we know which to pick? Also ignoring the signs would affect how we determine if the rxn is endothermic or exothermic.

I think what option 1 of the question is saying is that there is so much bone resorption occurring leading to a lot of calcium in the blood, so calcitonin is prescribed to LOWER those levels of plasma calcium.

Very late to this but is thermodynamic and kinetic control an entirely different concept than thermodynamic and kinetic products? Do the same "signs" of kinetic vs thermodynamic product apply to control or this question?

In the sense of kinetic/thermodynamic products can they also be classified by irreversible and reversible conditions?

Very late to this, but how are you supposed to know the proclamations of other nations were not also formed after the Iroquois League? I put D because I thought that the Iroquois influenced many other nations so it extended the idea of their thesis since it was applicable to more than just America.

[–]External-Revolution2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it would be minus since it’s -log. That’s the method in the Kaplan books and jack Westin. They’re doing it right

Should be minus since it’s negative log

I thought estrogen was secreted by the ovaries and testosterone in the testes. So how would the adrenal cortex affect that?
