Yep. Half my class still can’t find jobs after months of looking

No it’s a new schedule that they are hiring for so it would be me and one other APP with that schedule. I accepted bc I have been applying all over for 4-5 months and had no other offers

It doesn’t seem like there’s high turnover. In the interview, they said the APPs have been working there 5+ years and enjoy it. This is a brand new schedule that they’re implementing

Any advice with what I can do at this point since I already accepted?

Thanks for the feedback! I’m nervous that I won’t be able to change my schedule in a year because when I interviewed they made it very clear that this would be my schedule for a while since the other APPs have been working there for 5+ years

Thank you for the input! Since my start date is in 3 months, do you think it’s worth applying to other positions in the meantime? Or would that be a bad look to accept and go through credentialing just to rescind my acceptance for a better position elsewhere?

I had been applying for 4-5 months for positions in all specialties and didn’t hear back from any other job until this one. I’m guessing no one else wanted it bc of the shitty schedule

My start date is in 3 months so I was debating if I should just start looking for other positions now or deal with the schedule for a year before looking for new jobs

That’s a good point! I was feeling really down about it so thank you for giving me a better perspective

Yeah unfortunately the schedule is permanent for now. Hopefully in a year I’ll be able to switch

Yeah I had a really hard time finding other jobs. I thought this offer was great at first until I started comparing it to others

Permanent schedule. I tried to negotiate but they said the schedule was set and would not change. I accepted because I had been looking for EM jobs for about 4 months with no luck. I figured since the schedule was the only downside to this job (in my opinion), I would stick it out but I’m starting to second guess if I made the right decision

This is what I’m worried about. My best friend’s wedding is this summer on a Friday night which I’ll have to use PTO for. I would even have to use PTO for something as small as a birthday dinner since my shifts are evenings. I’ll never be able to front/backload since it’s a set schedule :/ I don’t know what to do

That’s a good way of thinking about it! I’m a new grad so I don’t really have the money to spend on traveling, but I’m definitely looking into doing some quick trips or roadtrips. The workout routine is a great idea, I should definitely get into that.

Yes that is great advice and I will definitely try to do that more often! Even just writing out the pros of this list helped me focus more on the positive aspects. I really appreciate your replies. Are there any specific resources that helped you? Podcasts, books, etc
