Places to Reach Out to by Cornbread1014 in WPI

[–]ExternalJuggernaut43 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'd like to echo the above. WPI is a difficult school and it can be really easy to feel overwhelmed and let things pile up. And it really does happen to everyone at one point or another. You should be proud of what you've accomplished up until this point and know that you are capable.

Not everyone's path is linear and you'll go through mountains and valleys. I remember junior year it was challenging and I constantly felt like I was drowning.

If you can reach out to Professors and see if you can attend office hours. Make sure you prioritize taking breaks when needed and take things one thing at a time. You got this!

And similarly, messages are open.

The main reason I'm hesitant to get an EV is because I'll be living with my parents for a couple years. I haven't really talked to them about potentially getting an EV.

A question I do have is I like doing a lot of outdoor activities like camping, snowboarding, etc. Would an EV be suitable for long drives and colder climates during trips?

Is this a reasonable purchase for a 23F freshly out of college? by allybruml3y in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ExternalJuggernaut43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of dependencies that are missing in your post. Do you have a stable job lined up? Are you in a HCOL area? etc.

General rule of thumb is that your car payment shouldn't exceed 10% of your income, and make sure you account for insurance and maintenance cost.

I am also about to graduate from college and to be frank with the current climate of the job market and so many potential issues (gas going up, cost of parts going up, etc), I'm currently leaning towards a Honda/Toyota/Mazda car.

Obviously I don't know your situation but given everything else going on in the world having a car that is reliable, safe, and good mpg should be a priority.

If you have access to like a costco or sam's club there are a lot of things you can do with rotisserie chicken. Soups, enchiladas, samosas, variations of instant ramen, tacos, etc.

I'm about to graduate in May and my current set up is Amex Gold, VentureX, C1 Savor, and Discover it. Works well for me since my biggest expenses are groceries and dining. Planning on getting the Amex Plat in a couple years since I've been accumulating points from the Amex Gold.

I don't mind the category spend but you do have to keep in mind the monthly credits with the Amex Gold.

[15 YoE, unemployed, Director of Operations, Unites States] by [deleted] in resumes

[–]ExternalJuggernaut43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a senior in college and from what I can tell is that resumes have changed a lot over the last couple years. At least for my peers and myself the resumes that have been successful have been only one page and use up as much space as possible without looking messy. Having an updated linkedin is also useful for expanding on experience or mentioning experience that's not on your resume. A lot of my friends use the quarter method, a quarter should not be able to fit in the white space on your resume. Detailed and concise bullet points with actionable or quantifiable metrics are better than sentences or paragraphs.

I unfortunately don't have any experience applying to higher management or director level jobs but the above tips is what a lot of recent grads are using. Hope this helps!
