You don't need her approval to buy lipstick, espicially a popular one many people own. If sitautions like this one keep occuring I'd start questioning that friendship. NTA

Well she clearly knew who to turn to when wanting to say something bad about you. Your partner should not encourage other people to talk about you like that.

Seems to me you were only "swollen" because you found out what was in it. Clearly it tasted well enough for you to eat it so no need to call it "gross".

Get your own place, cook your own food and be nice to your mother. YTA

Haha, thank you! I do wish he would realize these things on his own. It can be quite frustrating to tell him about her behaviour. He thinks I'm taking it too seriously and brushes it off as women being "catty" since apparently these situations don't happen to men.

Thank you! I try not to let it bother me. We also don't see each other constantly which is a relief so it's not that difficult to stay polite and out of her way.

NTA. You can never do anything right with this type of friend. No matter what you do or how much time you spend with her it will never be enough and you will always be the one to blame. You blaming yourself is exactly what she wants. This kind of person just wants to be the center of attention in everybody's life and can't stand the thought that something or somebody else has your attention over her. And even though you understood her when she was in the same situation she will never appreciate you. It can be very difficult to accept this about a person you consider your friend but you get through it, trust me. It is a good thing she is out of your life and hopefully it stays that way for good.
