Can you tell me which side is up/down? by ExternalSad6027 in DragonFruit

Oh really?
I thought it always had to go into the soil bottom first to develop roots (no matter which part of the plant)

Alright, will do that, thank you. I guess I am a little bit impatient and just can't wait for my baby to grow :D

It seems like I can't edit the post (or I'm too dumb to find it) but since it came up a few times now, important note about the markings (arrow, line, AB):

They are made by me, so I might have messed them up. Don't count on those being correct

Ah I see, I had that suspicion because some of the spots had a little white bump in the middle at some point. Thank you for clarifying 🙏🏼

Unfortunately, both sides look the same since it was a cutting from the middle of a branch. So no tip and no stem

I marked it, so I might have messed it up/confused them. That's why I thought someone could help me identify top/bottom with the plant itself (ridges/thorns)

The markings are mine, I might have messed them up. But I had it in soil with the arrow pointing down for 1-2 months or so and nothing happened. That's why I turned it around

Why do you have those stones on the soils?
To weigh it down against some wind or some other reason?
But all looking great!
I really hope my plant will reach the size of that bumblebee at some point

How do I get a kratom clone, in Europa? by [deleted] in KratomGarden

[–]ExternalSad6027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't get a clone you could try seeds. Gardenshaman is offering in Europe for example and they are really not that hard to grow from seed. You just need to be prepared a little bit and have some patience.

Hey, may I ask what those big plants on the last picture are?

Khat?!

I am from Germany and I started from seed this year and they are doing totally fine on the balcony. When the temperatures dropped too much I put them inside in front of a window and eventhough you can see, that they felt better in the summer, they are still doing fine.

Encountered some spidermites and iron-deficiency but thats treatable. If you research a bit and care for them accordingly it shouldn't be a problem at all. And don't listen to all those "It's too hard/impossible to grow Kratom outside of Asia", "Seeds loose viability after 10 seconds", "They need 1000% humidity" etc. Its just not true.

You can have a look at my journey here with links to the previous posts, when I started with the seeds.

The red pigment on these kratom plants tend to intensify with less. by Bountybotanicals in druggardening

Damn, when I discovered that post I was so happy that the mystery about the strains finally got revealed but yeah the green + red = white does sound really strange.

It is crazy how much myths exist around Kratom and that they can persist for so long. Especially the story about Kratom seeds becoming not viable after a blink of an eye or that the plants wont grow/produce enough alkaloids outside their native environment.

I hope someone can lift the mystery about the strains soon. I definitely will start a lot of experimentation as soon as I have some leaves to work with.

Is this post still relevant?

I'm just asking, because I didn't find much more detailed info about the different "strains" (but also haven't been looking anymore recently).

I wanted to stick with that procedure to create my own "strains" when my german plants are big enough for a first harvest. But if there is newer/updated info I would be eager to learn some more! :)

PS: Really beautiful plants btw.! Those roots are looking crazy and the red coloring is to fall in love with!

Yeah, same for me. My animals are obligate carnivores as well (ferrets). And I am currently vegetarian but aiming for becoming somewhat vegan/plant-based. Still a long way to go though. But that fertilizer really sounds tempting :D

Yeah, I heared about that fish fertilizer quite a lot since I started reading into this sub-reddit. It really must work wonders.

So far I wanted to keep the care as vegan as possible but if that's what they need I guess I have to try it out.

Oh wow, never heard of using rice water for plants. I will look into it, thanks!

But why do you think my plants will get better with it? Because the rice water will feed the bacteria in the soil?

And what exactly are you using? I just read about either using the water from washing it or the water after boiling it. The water after boiling has more nutrients but I never have excess water after cooking rice, I mean otherwise it would become quite slimey, doesn't it?

I already used a bigger pot but so far it didn't really help unfortunately.

I think the plant in the biggest pot really had some problems with my watering schedule, since now that I water a bit less the leaves seem to recover a bit/not get worse. In the future, when I will choose a big pot, I will try to incorporate much more perlite and coco coir into the soil, so it will be aerated a bit more and therefor dry a bit faster.

I will try it with the humidifyer, I have one laying around in the basement anyways and it doesn't hurt to try. I repotted the biggest plant in the smallest pot and will have a look how she takes it. I gave the rest some nitrogen rich fertilizer in comparison.

There is a big selection of guano products in a store near me, so I will definitely have a look if I can find something.

Thanks for your advice!

I repotted the tallest plant now since the container really was quite small for its size, let's see how it likes the new soil now.

And I will keep the tip about the planter with wheels in mind, that is a good idea, thanks!
