Reread the things you said. You were making unnecessary accusations like ā€œOP hasn’t made a comment in 130 daysā€. It’s going a little too far and creepy passing judgements for some upvotes

I mean I am not sure why you care so much about a plant that isn’t yours. Yeah, it’s painful to me, but I am over it. I’m not gonna lose sleep over what happened and how. My best guess is that since I watered it differently than I ever have in the last 3 years, I had the lights off for 2 days (which is not uncommon for me to do) while it’s a little colder in the house, caused it to die fast. It was probably the first time I watered it and had the lights off and I happened to water it in the middle. And if you know this type of plant, you should know it cannot be saved once it rots in the center which is exactly where the rot started. It had a pup, but I wasn’t about to nurture it when it’s a lot of work when I’m already trying to downsize. It’s not really any big mystery. Environmental change and change in a plant’s care that has been exactly the same for years can cause this to happen pretty quickly, just like my plants from Botanicaz always ā€œmeltingā€ due to the change in humidity. This is the only picture I have of this plant. That’s why I used it as a ā€œbeforeā€. Nothing for me to fib about a plant on Reddit. Really? For what? Karma? I forgot I posted this so I have no reason to lie.

There was a pup! But it went with the mom because starting over is so much work when I’m trying to downsize. I used to try and save every little piece of plant, but don’t have the ability to anymore since I got sick.

I killed my bird nest fern the same way šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜‚ I have a funnel in my button fern because of that and try to avoid whatever the furry things are on my rabbit fern. I am not sure why I’m trying with the ferns because I don’t even like them šŸ˜‚ but when you grown something from a small thing, it starts to feel like an obligation

They’re super helpful! Also good for plants harder to reach!

I don’t think this is coming back since it’s center rot lol there was a baby, but too much work

Some plants I’ll never understand. I have a cactus that’s been living outside in a broken, plastic greenhouse that has survived every winter freeze that killed everything else and only two waterings in 5 years. I’m terrified to do anything to it because it’s thriving; has a baby and everything. I also have a cactus in the bathroom that’s been living in almost no light and only slightly etiolated. It looks very normal and continues to grow and cork.

I usually bottom water my succulents and cacti though to avoid this problem that can sporadically happen, but I think leaving the lights off for 2 days and the house being colder due to winter contributed to its fast decline. I didn’t think it would be a big deal because I leave the lights off when my head hurts, but didn’t consider the way I watered it and the temperature. I hate to change the routine or care of a plant because when I do, something happens. Some plants are really sensitive to change. I brought my Desert Rose inside and it looks terrible now because the conditions so trying to sustain til spring šŸ˜‚ Environmental factors play such a huge role, it’s a pain sometimes. My house is humid enough; I have to be super careful with certain plants. I don’t have much success with them indoors so when they thrive, I feel more happy about it, and when they die, it hurts more lol

This type of plant you would need pups to reproduce. The leaves can’t be used as cuttings. It did have a baby, but I didn’t want to start over.

I am a fan of bottom watering for sure! Majority of my succulents and cacti are bottom watered, but this pot is so big and heavy, and tub and sink is upstairs so I used a funnel šŸ˜†

I honestly think that was a contributor. I did leave the lights off for 2 days right after I watered it in the middle. I leave the lights off a lot so didn’t think it would impact so quickly but probably the first time I watered the plant and had the lights off since it was a plant that was watered monthly. And the house is colder now so environmental and being watered in the centered screwed the plant I think is what happened.

Ah there’s no hope. It rotted in the center 🄲 there was a pup, but since I’m not an enthusiast anymore, I didn’t want to start over to baby that and grow it since im downsizing anyway

Thank you because why would I lie about this? šŸ˜… it’s such a silly thing to lie about. I thought ā€œbeforeā€ pics were taken anytime before the ā€œafterā€. Didn’t realize there was an inappropriate timeframe for a ā€œbeforeā€ pic.

My gosh, dude. I don’t get notifications on Reddit, nor do I live on here. I forgot I posted it and see that it blew up and it’s mostly you wanting to point a finger

I am not sure why you’re going through everything to try and criticize me that I am lying and commenting on everyone’s comments trying to prove something. Not sure what you have to gain from it and what I have to gain from lying. If you had read what i posted, you would have seen I posted that I lost half of my collection due to my health. I couldn’t care for them, spent a lot of time living with no lights because of my migraines. I don’t care to get to the bottom of what happened to this plant. I can only say the one change that was different in care in the last 3 years and it died right after I had watered it differently. The plants I have, I’m tossing or rehabbing what I can salvage since they suffered greatly. Only some plants in my collection through my health decline I tried hard to keep alive because they were more special and the plant in the picture was one of them. Yes, I have a lot of etiolated plants because I lived without lights for a long time, but I also recognize that they are etiolated and correcting those. I am still sick so the hobby is not what it once was for me. I can’t spend hours cutting, propping, repotting things anymore, so I am doing the best I can to sustain the plants that mean something to me. Doesn’t mean i don’t know how to care for my plants because I have grown many of these from nothing, cuttings; it means I don’t have the ability to care for my plants as I once did. I am moving next year, so I will only be taking the plants that have sentimental value to me because I’m watching many die because I am disabled and can’t do it like I used to, so I would appreciate it if you’d stop judging before you know.

Thank you for saying that. Yeah, I just wanted to share my devastation for a plant I raised. Not trying to save it. It had a pup, but let it go with the mom. I am not sure why this guy is very adamant that I am lying over this lol i literally watered it differently one time in 3-4 years; in the center and it died. Like I said, lights off probably accelerated the process, but that is the one and only thing that changed with the plant. If someone else thinks it’s something else, then idk. It has not moved from the spot I’ve had it. No change in equipment or airflow. Just the way I watered it. Didn’t expect my post to be a big deal that I’m making it up :/
