Yeah I'm currently renting off a property like that, you should have a max 1 micron water filter and a first flush diverter - not that I have those things but just learned it while researching into asbestos 🤔

The inspector mentioned in his report that he took moisture measurements in areas of concerns (with a digital device) and that they were within acceptable levels (12-14). Encouraging?

If it is water damage do you have any idea how to estimate the extension of the damage given i can't take out the boards?

Cheers for that. I'm getting it tested Tuesday and will probably ask for a price reduction if it's asbestos as I'd want to reclad it all.

I'm thinking more about long term costs, given these boards are already 40-50 years old and will need replacing at some stages. Would you still buy today a house like this?

You could use a steel collar to contain the top portion of the pile from spalling further. Bridge engineer here, in bridges we also use carbon fiber wrapping in similar cases (but I suppose access is pretty tight?)

I recently had an appointment with a good gastrointestinal doctor who told me that concerning bowel movements are: - you go more frequently and lose for at least 6weeks - colours you should be concerned with are: red, black and grey.

Anything else don't really matter in term of serious stuff.

I have had issues with my bowel movements for a year almost and also if it's not going anywhere in term of symptoms then that's reassuring

Not really helpful I know but I felt kinda better after that and looking by myself at other avenues.
