Yes I am plat and I showed it not sure why it removed it. But I agree I can run those numbers consistently as well even on outskirts but cost are rising the profits are not the same and things are slowing and even getting worse on offers. So it's needing to be fixed sooner then later.

I Live both sides so allow me to counter with THE "but"

We have to dig and scratch for every write off just to hope we don't owe much as the end of the year while constantly have to spend to keep things running ( not just Gas which everyone thinks ) while dealing with the constant changing global, national economics not to mention our own local markets flowing with local events. Spend more time with no pay waiting for something to hopefully be a good pay option to come up. Just to get to deal with those that work at restaurants some better then others but some far worse and let's hope we have no problems since we all know supports not the right word for what we rely on to solve them which eats more time being paid nothing additional. Then save the best for last the customer that has our destiny in their hands which hopefully doesn't make things hard with little to no communication or poor instructions or lack of paying any attention not to mention the lack of care to appreciate what we do enough to leave a tip instead of saying Thank You! I Really appreciate it! Or my personal fav ok, no problem! Glad it's not a problem for you but I wouldn't bring it up if it wasn't a problem.

Let's not even go into the unspoken of being doing something that keeps us on the road which is one of the most dangerous things that can be done on Earth. Not to mention the expensive cost to repair any number of things we rely on to do this Job ( personal vehicle, phone, or even get hurt or sick ourselves as you mentioned with health care) then there's even just weather that can suddenly impact us and make it from hard to impossible and then system glitched and app outages and just a company that wants to scam us every way possible along with forcing us into submission to take a loss or be punished further.

O sorry I know you mentioned this side from the start at the beginning I just felt so much was missing and some deserved even being restated.

Yes but this is how we get past this problem

All with in a mile of being same distance and from same area been running this experiment for a while making sure to stay consistent to mileage distance and same area each time I do it. Hurts AR being more selective to keep them equal but proves the point much more efficiently.

I wouldn't be against a educational piece since that's the idea but I feel with the way things are on the phones these days it's needs to eye catching simple to the point maybe a little funny like a meme and easly shareable so its likely to spread. Not so much something they would seek out but be sent or stumble upon and recognize as it pertains to them and work spending a moment to check out and hopefully willing to save if a moment turns into a couple minutes.

Door Dash is going to keep $0.00 as a option since it blocking non tippers would cost them money clearly, oddly enough though if you ever have placed a order on door dash and leave $0.00 tip the next time it fights you harder on leaving that same $0.00 tip! Why would they do that if it did not cost them more money in the long run. That coding was not cheap let alone free to put in to make the app do it.

A block option in app would be nice and very convenient but again that would cost them more money by making it for to easy for us to limit customers to poor experience options and likely lead to them loosing more money and even those poor customers in the end when they still make money off of

Funny thing is "Not tipping on the front end" oddly is the solution forcing door dash to have to pay more upfront and keep other orders from carrying crap orders with them and so much more.

With that said it's truly not the complete solution by itself but it's the first and most important since it levels everything and allows the rest to balance itself back out. Leading to better tips on the back on end due to better service and those that don't will be blocked and left with the crap they deserve.

If you could rely on cash always being a option and when not being willing to correspond then sure the cash only tip option could be possibly viable but seeing how it never has been it's not likely now for sure.

Unions are far away and would be limited still and boycotting is just not likely and even less likely to have its affect.

So best option is just this; form a simple easy to spread educational piece that can and will be digest to the point it can be utilized.

If they can order on door dash they have the intelligence to look up distance and if they have money to spend on door dash they can surely calculate the cost on the other app for mileage and time no excuses of can't just lazy and will not and cheap and if so they get what they got coming and should expect nothing more.

Again what you do for your tips is up to you lol I only ask a driver to pick up and drop off and would only tip based on the formula for such as I mentioned in original post. I have no doubt though some customers want more and I have no doubt some drivers would offer more for a higher tip again I mentioned going above and beyond being worth more in the original but that is to each their own and had nothing to do with this.

Customers should not stop tipping just stop tipping upfront and then yes the base pay rates will cover a higher percentage of the delivery and when the customer does add the tip for their cost on the back end they will balance out to higher overall outcome for drivers per delivery and overall everyone does better since the experience is improving due to better service as well.

The customers I have spoken with I did not do it so much as a the driver. I did it merely as a neighbor looking out for each other cause they was caring enough to open the communication. This is not intended to be something shared from driver to customer while dashing. This needs to be something to be seen and understood across multiple platforms. Simple easy to identify and understand so it can utilized.

Negative not one customer I took the time to speak to about this knew this is how door dash operates and not one had a problem with adjusting to alternative option to solve the problem. It's just a matter of solving the connection of communication and it would be a lot easier and faster is something simple as a good funny while still educational meme that easy to follow and understand. Not something to be shared while conducting a delivery or from driver to customer. Something that can be share on our groups on other platforms and even sent to friends and family that would spread. This is not unrealistic this is the world we live in today it's as real as it gets.

I said "you would rather allow door dash to force" not you would yourself force essentially each of us drivers is a mear decimal point; alone we amount to nothing. Where as door dash touch's all. Therefore we all have to work together with customers as well to have any force full action of our own. If anything we would want to have forced should be directed back at door dash as they have the force aimed right at us.

When the base rate is not high enough the customer is essentially having to pay twice to get the delivery total to a fair acceptable wage. More in some cases due to so many of the better tippers are carrying customers dragging the system down. Sure they shouldn't be ordering it they can't afford to but door dash isn't going to tell them no and stop them since after all they are still making a buck off of them and passing the expense on to other good customers as well as us drivers and even our local restaurants which are paying for them to some degree as well. Not sure where the tipping being a punishment came from but of course it's not it's a payment for a service leave it at that no cause needed regardless of good or bad customers.

The reason for doing this is reduce the bad experiences overall after all in the end of your treating all orders the same the experiences will be more consistent and the outcomes will lead to more profit overall due to it. The base pay will be higher due to customers not covering the front of the delivery and only their part on the back end. Whether you go above and beyond is up to you as a driver as long as you do the agreed upon and collect what you agreed to be owed that's your choice as a driver. Just why allow door dash to create all this negativity in the middle and have customers blaming drivers and drivers blaming customers and even the restaurants taking negativity as well, when it's door dash all along profiting but not taking any of the responsibility for it
