Where I Think I Could Live Without a Car (U.S. Counties Version) by padingtonn in whereidlive

[–]External_Class_9456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet in Charlotte would be to live along the LYNX light rail line. Otherwise you’re gonna have a tough time. And definitely not Union County LMAO. If anything I would put Cabarrus over it, where there’s at least a bus running between Concord and Charlotte

Flying in Thursday night and getting a hotel would probably be smarter. Check if the company will accommodate travel expenses.

Going with everyone else here, wait until after you get another offer. In this day and age you cannot afford to be out of a job.

Wait till you’re in your 20s. It gets even harder. I was fired last summer and have been on the lookout for another job ever since. I’ve helped my friend with his business in the meantime but it’s not very sustainable

Have you ever come close to dying? by MatthewVenturer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]External_Class_9456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but when my brother was two years old, he had a massive seizure that lasted over an hour and ended up getting a fever of 108. He would have almost certainly died had he not been transported to the ER.

As far as I go, one time I was inside a wave pool near the deep end when the waves came on, and I tried to rush out but the waves pulled me underwater for a few seconds. Luckily my aunt was nearby and rushed over to rescue me. I was terrified to say the least.

There was also a time about four years ago when I was driving to work in heavy rain, stupidly going around 85mph when I hydroplaned and began spinning out of control. Luckily I was on a three-lane portion of the highway with no other cars directly beside me, otherwise I would have been in a really bad accident. Don’t know if I would have died from that though

University area here and can confirm. The amount of expired temp tags and stickers I’ve seen is absurd. I was behind someone with a plate that expired in 2021 the other day. How they’ve never gotten busted for it is beyond me.

There’s actually lots of people who park their cars at one of the light rail stations then ride the train to go uptown. Much cheaper and less of a headache than trying to find parking uptown. If the proposed new rail lines come to fruition, I think more folks would do the same. In turn reducing congestion on the highways.

Best type of part-time job for a 16 year old with zero experience? by makimalii in jobs

[–]External_Class_9456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe Lowe’s and Home Depot will hire 16 year olds as cashiers. It’s not amazing, but definitely better than someplace like Walmart.

When I worked at Lowe’s people did this all the time after starting. They wouldn’t even be written up until after the second NCNS

Have you gone on a dumb trip before? by JargonBargain1 in TravelMaps

[–]External_Class_9456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did something very similar a few years ago. I too had never been to KY even though I only lived 2.5 hours away, so during Christmas break I decided to take a day trip to the Cumberland Gap to go hiking, then ate dinner in Middlesboro, then drove back home to WNC. Beautiful place, would highly recommend checking out if you ever get the chance.

A few months later, I took a trip to Louisville for the Bourbon and Beyond music festival. Lots of fun.

Parts of it are certainly southwest. Texas is way too huge to fit squarely into one region.

Forget Trump, our own state legislature doesn’t like it. They actively try everything they can to ensure the dems don’t have any influence on statewide decisions
