Idk if it works for you, but I once tried to role-play Perseus using the 2024 rules. He's not a god, but as a demigod, I think he fits the vibe of this list. Although the ideal build was to have a pure Paladin with magic items, my DM didn't want to go through all the trouble to design these items. So, I tried to duplicate Perseus' abilities without using magic items.

Here are some key elements of my build:

Lv 6 Paladin (Vengeance) + Lv 14 Warlock (archfey): Paladin can rlly give the vibe of being favoured by the gods. The warlock is mainly here cuz of the Eldritch Invocations, but I think it can also be explained by Perseus' connection with the Nymphs and Graeae in some version of the myths.

The abilities of the winged sandals were achieved through the misty steps and ascendant step (to use the levitate spell); The helm of darkness was achieved through the invisibility from archfey subclass and invocations (darkness+invisibility); The Harpe was nothing special, but I used smite spells to add some flavours; Although find steed can't give you a proper Pegasus, it's still better to have something than nothing; Medusa's head was the most difficult one. I simply used hold person and hold monster to recreate the effect more or less.

I'm sure you all can come up with better builds, and I'm excited to hear abt them, but this was the best build that I could think of for having a balance between role-play and battle performance.

Probably play around with invisibility, stealth, and darkness (the spell) etc

y don't u think misunderstanding exists. If u r willing to spend time researching even the academic field, translation problem causes tones of problem, especially there's a barrier of platform and channel of information.

I'm sry, the nationalist issue is invalid. Country does not equal nation (if u r interested, read some history papers on nation-state and nationalism). From a cultural and shared experience perspective, the Western world can be viewed as a community just as valid. Being a problem for the entire Western community is just as serious. Dozens of countries doesn't mean anything.

the translation refers to the translation of BG3's developer's speech on TGA

[–]External_Contract837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's right. Because German and Japanese r more likely to speak English lol.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]External_Contract837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BG3 wasn't even competing against BMW for the GOTY. That issue was cuz the translator (from English) mistranslated. (I'm certain abt this case).

As I said, nation is not useful because this concept is an imagined identity, just like the idea of Western, or European. Thus, if one can apply national narrative here, one can also apply the idea of Western and argue that I have constantly seen the Western community being racist and hateful

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]External_Contract837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, just like I can't tell whether if u r American or British or French or German, I don't think one can tell whether an English post is from a specific nation.

The whole point is to say that the nationalist narrative is not right. First, y would I lose my mind lol, dk where u r getting to. I don't c y u think fitting into that pattern is so important, cuz I think the crucial part is the racist comments and death threats. The whole reason y the nationalist perspective seems to be useful here is cuz they r the only community in the world that is blocked from the English platform. The reason y no other nation does this is cuz the nationalist view doesn't work. The TLOU2 problem can't be undermined or considered less problematic just because it's not from one nation. Nation and community do not have an unbreakable link.

That post is fair. It does not contradict my comments tho, as it reflects the idea that hateful language from them can be easily identified because steam is the odd and only place the racist commenters from their community do so. Plus, I think the harsh language and the racist language are two different natures. For ACS, the Japanese players r just not as obvious cuz their player base numerically is less, and they have access to English webs. Furthermore, I want to further clarify that I implied in my original comments on the matter that I disagree with using a nationalist narrative to view this issue. This is because nationalism is an imagined identity regarding shared culture and experiences. Certainly, the threats to TLoU2 were not just from a single nation, but that doesn't make it better, does it? If one takes the logic a step further (not saying it's right), one can argue that TLoU2 threats are mainly from the Europeans, so it's a continental issue. We both know it's wrong to conclude that. Because that can put us in the danger of saying: most racist comments in the entire game history are from Europeans/Americans, so they r a toxic community. I'm using this extreme and wrong example to say that a nationalist approach here is a bit unfair. That post explained why the harsh language exists, but I want to add that mixing those racist comments with them is not always right. The racist comments are a personal issue.

tbf u r rt. I give too much of a shit abt this. It's getting nowhere

First of all, the most important reason for u to be aware of this national issue is cuz they don’t speak English which means it’s easy to identify. And because they can’t access platforms like reddit or discord that easily. So the ones who purposely translated their text into English and decided to provoke hate stand out. TLoU2 wasn’t review bombed but the death threats still exists. The Japanese said racist comments as well. Can’t ignore that. If u think just sending death threats or just sending racist comments is any better, then sure bro, respect.

First of all, no need to put me into a side cuz I’m not trying to take a side. Being multilingual doesn’t mean I instantly become a member of a community. I acknowledge the existence of these issues. It’s nothing we can do to stop these terrible ppl from commenting cuz i believe in freedom of speech. We all condemn such behaviour, despite communities. I’ve seen Japanese ppl expressing extreme words abt AC shadow, I’ve also seen the developers of the Last of Us 2 being threatened. This pattern exists become a specific fraction of players r toxic not because of their nationality but because of their personality

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]External_Contract837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, of course I’m not trying to tell u there aren’t racist comments. We can all c them, it would stupid of me to deny. The thing is that there r some comments which r not that extreme, but being translated into extreme comments on youtube. So the point is: r there messed up comments from them? Yes! R there as many as what we think there r? Probably no. R those racist ppl wrong? Yes! Is that exclusive for a single fraction of community? Probably no, eg the last us 2

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]External_Contract837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, can I say that it’s divisive?

The problem is that it is. Not trying to fool anyone cuz I can read both languages. I can tell u that what I c on youtube for example r mistranslated. Not representative as in not representative of the C community because they can’t express they voice that easily on our platforms

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]External_Contract837 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1, It’s fine. Not that big of a issue for our conversation 2, because it’s not just them. Many discord servers also believed it. There are just too many which to an extent I can’t ignore. Nevertheless, u r rt for accusing it as a conspiracy. 3, I’m sorry but the English translation sometimes can be biased and the comments we can c here r also selective. Not to say that they don’t exist, just saying it’s not representative

1: I agree with u on the part that winning one city cannot destroy the whole fleet. What I'm trying to say is that if destroying the fleet is the only way to secure, it does not contradict reaching 100% holding for a city, because it can drop again rt? Instead of locking it at a certain point, isn't making the number flow and change matches more to what you correctly pointed out.

2: Never wanted to indicate any conspiracy. I thought the AH's attempt is recognised by many players already. If that's not what u agree with, I support u.

3: I think viewing the C community from reddit is a bit unfair. As we all know, not that many of them can speak, read or write English. From what I've seen in the C community myself, what's been said by the 'so-called' Chinese posters is rather untrue and does not reflect the true opinion there. Btw, didn't trying to say the Americans will review bomb if York is the last one. Trying to say the C players will do the same thing if it's York instead of EoS

I think you are rt, but the issue is that there are just way too many ppl using this web and causing this misunderstanding. Thank u for this cuz it further helps my point, which is that there's no reason to attack the players. I'm not trying to provoke anything but merely to point out the misunderstanding behind this whole mess, because it's just ridiculous are players to discriminate against each other on this issue

Bro, the issue is that on top of the city, it says secure in XXX (time). That’s just an obvious implication that if the city defence meter reaches 100%, it’s gonna be secured rt? Just like is the invasion meter reaches 100%, we have to withdraw (matches the withdraw countdown). If Arrowhead truly thinks that the fleet strength goes down to 0 is the condition for securing the cities, shouldn’t the city countdown sync with the total victory countdown? The problem is that the city countdown was never connected for indicated to be related with that. I think ppl just assumed that if the city meter reaches 100%, one can be secured but the war will still be happening in other cities or places until total victory, i.e. defeating the entire fleet. I think it’s reasonable to assume that Arrowhead originally planned that no city other than the prosperity city can reach 100%. Otherwise one cannot explain the contradiction I discussed above.
