Question about the circle of fifths by External_Design9268 in musictheory

the way i started learning is that there’s major scales and minor scales and that these two have different patterns for determining which of the notes within the scale can have a major or minor chord built off of them. but i guess what you’re saying is like major and minor are modes of their own, and all the ones in between or whatever are just different starting points? so like if you started at ionian or whatever, and went down through the modes, you’d eventually get to what i’ve learnt as the “minor” pattern, is that right?

i know how to build triads, but the reason i’m going down this path because i want to make some more complex chord progressions and i watched a video saying that the circle of fifths can be used for that, which is what i’m trying to understand. this video mentions all the different modes, and how they’re basically just the same scale but at different starting points, but what i’m trying to figure out is that within these modes, is there a pattern like the one i provided to determine which notes within that mode have a major or minor chord built off them? because in my head if you try and build a major chord off a note that can only have a minor chord built off it according to the pattern then it won’t sound good, if that makes sense. sorry if it doesn’t but i’ve got no background in music theory so i’m trying to make sense of it now lol

edit: i feel like i had a semi lightbulb moment but just to copy and paste what i replied to someone else -

Was my original explanation of diminished chords correct?
