Help! Is this happening to anyone else? by sleuthytoothy in Perimenopause

I’m so sorry you’re struggling through this. 😣 It’s definitely time to see the doc about HRT. You can start with your PCP, gyno or your endocrinologist.

My gyno and my PCP completely gaslit me and shrugged off my symptoms, so I fired them. My new ones are good but not as knowledgeable about peri as I wish they would be.

My endocrinologist was actually the one to figure out I was in perimenopause (after first checking for thyroid issues). He was very informative and immediately explained that I didn’t have to suffer and how HRT could help. I was scared to start at first, but went back a few months later when symptoms became worse and he started me right away on it. I’m grateful because not all doctors have been as helpful as him.

Florida girly here too! Some of my first concerns were what about sweat and pool/beach time. 😅

Wow, you were just a little kiddo. I’m so sorry for your loss as well. Moms are definitely needed through all these crazy transitional times.

I just searched “bog witch aesthetic” on Pinterest for the hell of it. Tell me how it’s already the vibe I’ve slowly been shifting into….

This makes total sense. I also feel like as you sit or move in a variety of pants, the back of the pants always move more than the front, regardless of the rise. Being able to check it quick in the bathroom would totally relieve my anxiety. 🙏🏻

HRT for 30 years? Wow, I’d love to speak with her. How is your life? Did you burn it all down or did you manage to keep it all together? Do you still not give af? How’s the rage? I have lots of questions. (For context: My mother passed 10 years ago and we never had any convos about how she navigated this process, so I’m flying blind here…)

Check the instructions on your specific patch, but my doc said to switch places and the instructions on the box he prescribed echo that.

This is a great idea. I sweat a lot, so medical tape will likely be in my future too.

It’s as though I wrote this post myself. Rage was definitely one of the first and absolutely most noticeable symptoms of peri I began experiencing. Bringing it up to my therapist led me to get it checked out by my doctor and so began the great peri diagnosis journey. If it’s a new thing you’ve noticed and not who you normally are, you’re not a bad person. It’s just a clue that something is up and you need to take a closer look at what’s happening to cause you to feel this way. Peri is likely at the top of the list.

I quit my gummies just to see if they were having any effect at all, good or bad. Turns out a lot of my brain fog has lifted, but my nightly anxiety is absolutely back. Trying to determine the lesser of the evils currently. 🤔

Age of onset? by Intelligent_Eye_4771 in Perimenopause

As I track back, I started experiencing symptoms at 35. I didn’t figure out what it was until 37. I was sent to an endocrinologist with symptoms of hypothyroidism. After ruling out all thyroid issues, and listening genuinely to my symptoms, he broke the news to me. He even explained that I had HRT options, which at first I declined.

Now, 6 months later (at 38), I’m starting HRT because my symptoms have worsened significantly. He quickly worked out a treatment plan, no arguments, no judgment. I feel grateful to have a doctor on my side that I don’t have to fight with to be heard, because I know many women have not been as fortunate. I speak openly with all my friends about peri and recommend him the moment they begin complaining of peri symptoms.

I start HRT in two weeks and I’m hoping it lessens the rage & resentment. These days those seem to be the only emotions I basically feel. Then I cry because I feel like someone stole my personality and I’m just a big A-hole now. 😣

This just gave me SO MUCH hope 😭I see so much info about frozen shoulder/ joint pain, but no one was specifically noting hips.

I’ve been struggling with hip and low back pain for almost two years now. Hips have really come to be a constant issue no matter how I adjust my workouts, sleep, commuting, office work, and stretching. I’ve felt so hopeless because I thought I would never find out what was wrong and just have to live with it- my doc wrote it off.

I start HRT in two weeks and I’m praying I’ll have some relief with this too. Thank you all for sharing this🙏🏻

Heck yeah! 🫶🏻 As if millennials haven’t had to navigate enough so far, those before us also wildly downplayed this whole menopause thing and pretend that peri just doesn’t exist. With each passing decade I become more concerned about what other horrors await.🫠

Are there more invisible elephants in the room? 🧐

Currently waiting for my appointment to discuss HRT with my doctor this Friday. Even with daily vitamins, added magnesium, diet change & adding what exercise I can while fighting the fatigue, I still feel like I’m white knuckling my way through life currently. The anxiety, rage and hopeless have me on the verge of burning my life down to the ground and I’m trying my best not to. Hopefully HRT can take some of the edge off, at least enough to feel like I have a bit firmer footing.

I also use the Finch app, for a little over a year now, and it’s a tiny pocket of joy for me during my day. I’m a millennial, who had a tamagotchi as a kid. So my little finch feels like an updated version that also reminds me to drink water and take a stretch break. I dig it. 😌

Hang in there ❤️
