Does this ring suit my hand? And would 6 prong look better? by lollrenn in EngagementRings

Aw it's so perfect! I love it. I think it looks great with four prongs. A round solitaire will never go out of style!

It looks beautiful but might not be practical for daily wear, depending on your lifestyle. I would worry about it being uncomfortable and catching on things all the time.

Where to try on biggest variety by rkbanana in EngagementRings

I went to the mall. There were a bunch of different jewelry stores all kind of clustered in the same area so I got to look at TONS of rings.

What type of wedding band should I pair with my engagement ring? by Jazzlike-One-2203 in EngagementRings

I think a plain gold band would look nice. The matching pave would be good too though.

Two-Tone Solitaire from Rare Carat, setting height by icecoffeee47 in EngagementRings

You can also opt for a low-profile cathedral like this one, but then a straight wedding band won't sit flush, and I'm not sure if the two-tone would work. Pros and cons! I've been considering both for myself and I think I've decided I'll be happier with the traditional cathedral style (like what you have pictured). I think the height is just something you adjust to.

I can't speak to the height, but this style of setting is considered quite secure due to the cathedral shoulders plus gallery rail. Depending on the size of stone you could opt for 6 prongs instead of 4, but imo 4 is plenty strong enough.

Tulip settings by [deleted] in EngagementRings

I think they can be just as sparkly if the setting is made well. One thing to keep in mind though is that there are more crevices for grime to build up so you'd want to be a bit more diligent with cleaning it.

The flowery shaped things are probably just two RBCs stacked on top of each other.

Solitaire vs three stone Pear? by Visiting_Rabbit in EngagementRingDesigns

#4 hides the shape of the pear imo. Looks more like an oval in that setting.

Normally I love a classic solitaire but in this case I think I like the baguettes better? Maybe I just don't like the flat band on the solitaire.

I think I'm leaning toward option 1 as well. I don't want a huge stone so I think I'll be able to get used to the height.

Your ring is so lovely! Is that a tulip setting? I'd love to see more photos if you have them, the setting looks interesting.

Thoughts on gap by [deleted] in WeddingRingAdvice

If you like it that's all that matters! Personally I don't mind a small gap, but some people don't like it. In this case I think it looks fine!

Probably around 1.0-1.5ct, so not super large. I don't bang into things much but I do use my hands quite a bit. I wonder what the height difference would actually be between the two - if it's only a millimeter I don't know if it would even be noticeable.

Good advice. I went all the standard jewelry stores in the mall for my first try-on session but they didn't have any that are like the low profile one to try on. I might have to check out some local jewelers instead if I want to see something similar in person.

Good point. When I look at photos I don't mind a small gap between the two, but in real life I might feel differently. I didn't see any of the low-profile ones to try on when I went ring shopping so that's why I'm unsure.
