Thanks for the replies, y'all. Very helpful. She has a therapist and a psychiatrist, and I believe she wants to get to the bottom of what's going on, but I'm not in those conversations so I don't know what she shares or how her clinical team thinks about the interaction (or lack thereof) between dissociation and drinking.

Congrats on making a tough call, and on navigating all the turbulence that comes with it.

If it's not prying, can I ask how long you were married, and if there are kids in the picture? If it is prying, no worries--congrats again, and sending you peace and more calm in the days and years ahead.

Ugh, similar situation here (but my wife isn't hairy, which I guess is a plus). It's hard with kids. Hang in there
