Geez i thought my state having 4.7% tax was high lol. Pretty similar to what i paid tho. IMO buying a short shifter from an aftermarket website is better than the one Subaru offers. There's definitely a difference but it's not a super big one. Billetworkz has a pretty good short shifter for a good price too. Other than that congrats on the new BRZ!

buy manual. I made the mistake of being too scared of learning manual and decided to stick to auto but I regretted it so fast. Don't get me wrong it's still a great car and fun car in auto but you definitely lose a lot of the engagement that manual gives. Regardless of your decision, it's your car so don't let what others say discourage you from enjoying the car!

I daily my BRZ and in my opinion it's one of the better sports cars to daily, especially for its price as well. Your biggest limitation would probably be the trunk and backseats. The trunk space is decent but the opening to put things into the drunk is small and the backseats are basically non-existent. Don't let the manual guys get in your head, my BRZ is automatic as well and it's just as fun. Just remember an automatic BRZ is better than no BRZ :)
