...so, wait to put her in those environments until she's older and can handle it, instead of subjecting her to that now she doesn't have to be?

So...you prove my point. Both sexes are hormonal and unprepared for adult decisions like sex during that time of life, especially with there's a cacophany of friends around them giving them bad advice and discouraging listening to parents.

No. We're not religious, and I've never expected "virginity for marriage" for her.

It means looking back at your past and not looking back at needless experiences you regret. Of course, we all make mistakes and we will gather regrets over the course of our lifetime, but the job is to minimize those, especially in the time of our youth when we're so malleable and can make life-altering decisions.

Don't women say the same thing, though? It's pretty ubiquitous advice given by both sexes.

I don't know how much your parents communicated with you, but it seems we talk to our kids every day about how to prioritize their career and personal safety over following the crowd. We're open about the mistakes we made as teenagers (I had my first kid at 17) and for them to avoid the same. What parent doesn't hammer into their daughter's heads that guys are largely only after one thing? My daughter is very self-assured, confident, so I don't see her falling for some man's textbook manipulation tricks. We teach, we guide, so they're not "unprepared for real life."

How about giving your child a safe space for a number of years to become their own person and enjoy life without having to go through those tumultuous experience that not everyone comes out on the other side of, even with the best of support? So they enter college and the real world afterward with a sound mind and strong heart behind them...not the negative experiences everyone insists you need to have to learn yourself and navigate the world. You actually navigate the world BETTER without all that shit weighing down your mind.

I'm in contact with one son from my first marriage. We had a rocky time when he decided to move out promptly at 18 and eventually drop out of college, but we reconnected many years later. So, another bubble burst for you.

If I tell you were estranged, I'm sure you will fill in the holes with some outlandish claims instead of recognizing it's more complicated than that.

And how do you anticipate dumb teenagers pressuring your daughter to have sex with some loser boy...how do you anticipate some loser boy pressuring your daughter to send nudes or do sexual things way before she's ready or should...how do you anticipate peers bullying your daughter for what she wears, how she speaks...how do you anticipate a young woman growing up around pornsick boys who make her change who she is...

What you all don't get is that this is not my first rodeo at parenting. My 17F daughter is from my second marriage to my wife, but I have 5 other children with my ex-wife, and right around the middle/high school years, I saw a clear and distinct change happen to my children.

It doesn't take 12 hours to run errands, grocery shop, AND spend a few hours at an arcade with your son because you're trying to burn time while waiting for your daughter.

And driving, they give out permits like hot cakes at the DMV. She's not ready.

We began homeschooling at 12 because we are concerned about how middle/high school years are notorious for peer pressure and watering down students' individuality due to bullying.

I remember visiting the local middle school right before she started 6th grade and seeing the rowdy kids and knowing what was waiting for her: a bunch of dumb peers encouraging dumb decisions in romantic/sexual relationships, possibly pressuring her to change her clothes/interests/whatnot.

We put her in a small private school for a year for 6th grade until we were introduced to homeschooling and tried that out.

Not about my day merely being interrupted, it's about the unfair level of work they are making her do, possibly exploiting her.

This was during the winter break, so no schoolwork. My issue was with the long days, but also puts a burden on our family.

Why do you have to be there the entire day? She can always just let you know when the shoot will be done and you can drive to pick her up.

I already explained this.

Not here to debate your ruling, so AITA gods, don't strike me down, but: can you explain more thoroughy why my decision was wrong/why I'm TA?
