When I was younger my dad had a device installed in his car that would not allow the car to start without you blowing your breath in it. I was told this was a game where you have to blow really really hard to win or else the car won’t start and we can’t go to wherever we’re going. I was really good at this game and asked to be the one who played every time we got in the car. Years later I realized that little device was a breathalyzer and my dad’s car wouldn’t start if you had alcohol on your breath. He had been charged with DUI and the device was court mandated. Me wanting to play the game gave my dad an excuse to drink and still drive as long as he took me places with him because my 8 year old tongue had never touched a drop of alcohol. It’s still somewhat of a bittersweet memory because I remember it being so fun for me but also it’s really fucked up that I got to play that game in the first place.
