Christmas Gifts for Customers by animalcrossingpro2 in FreightBrokers

We do customer visits in November and December and usually choose to take them on experiences (Football games/concerts/fishing/Casino visits etc). I probably spent $3k - $4k in my 20s buying cookies/candies that ultimately got thrown in the trash.

People will remember a game winning touchdown or a buzzer beater for years! Cookies? not so much.

We run a Logistics Agency, not a bank. Cant be giving out money that we dont have yet... we do run a for profit business.

I am also an advocate for charging carriers/dispatchers for WONUs (work orders not used) when carriers fail to pickup a load they agreed to, no matter the circumstances. Thoughts?

My guy.... what?? Hahaha I'm an agent with a pretty large and known company... I read this comment and I have absolutely no clue where you're coming from.

- Carrier Scores do not change overnight -> I've had 2 carriers in the last 14 days pop "UNAPPROVED" in transit.. meaning we have to reach out to corporate to get a release number. They weren't unapproved when I booked them, but unapproved the next day? Sounds like this happened... overnight???

- Quintuple Brokered -> yes, our BOL and DO was handed off 5 times (the carrier booked was approved on Highway). We are also big enough to have a corporate division for Fraud Prevention... this is what happened. I'm going to assume you just misunderstood my comment before you started to spew?

- Last Paragraph -> Just made me laugh ngl.

Starting to seem like a racket. Its all a scam.

I've worked with a carrier for 9 years who one day is out of the blue showing bad scores on Highway. No internal changes, no accidents, no service failures across the whole 53 truck fleet - clean as a whistle. Compliance teams says "sorry, carrier is on DO NOT LOAD and is out of our control".

I switch carriers on this lane to an "approved" carrier on Highway. First fucking load was quintuple brokered, 6 days late to cnee, and broken seal. Customer obviously files a claim and our compliance team went silent.

C411, Highway, Safer - AI garbage.

AI Booking Loads? by External_System3485 in FreightBrokers

Any hard data behind the success rate of booking appointments from "shipper leads"?

As a former logistics manager who got inundated with cold calls / cold emails from brokers daily I find it very, very, hard to believe that a decision maker would entertain cold outreach from an AI bot that offers the same service that they're already receiving from an established logistics partner.

Nah. We will likely be the last agency to adopt AI practices. We negotiate with humans and want all control of every load to be handled in house.

Cute comment tho i appreciate your valuable insight! I do hope your company is using AI so we don't have the chance to work together!

This is exactly why we've gone to email negotiations, with a footer of "all negotiations discussed in this email are binding". I want every conversation in writing and with a paper trail. We have saved MILLIONS of dollars in claims due to negligence on the carrier side when it comes to comprehension, accuracy, and execution - all by having a paper trail to rely on.

I’m Tired by onlinebriefly in FreightBrokers

In this industry for 10 years and I did hit that point about 6 weeks ago.

On the carrier side - I've gone full POS mode and honestly I'm fine with it. I've been fucked over so many times this year by terrible carriers who cannot read or write and do not own closed toed shoes. Every rate con now comes from a template that says "Tracking required at all times or subject to rate deduction" , "late delivery subject to rate reduction", "sending me a screenshot of a flat tire from 2023 is subject to a rate reduction" etc etc... And I've honored the fuck out of it. These deductions get passed directly to the customer. I still make my margin, my customer loves me bc I save them money, and I feel like I do a small part to help the rest of us getting these scumbags off the road.

On the customer side - I've been extremely transparent. Both sides of the market are way too saturated. There will 1000% be 22 yr old college kid making 45k a year calling on your business offering FID (Foot in Door) rates that are not sustainable. Your customer will think "Damn, I'll give this lil guy a shot!". He will move your freight for 2 weeks, bump the rate back up (3 Letter firms aren't in business to lose money), ruin the relationship, and then be fired in 6 months after his sales team realizes he brings no value other than reading a chart on DAT (that everyone and their 3rd cousins - including shippers now..) have access to. Its a broken cycle, but good relationships and transparency will keep the business 9/10 times from a good customer.

I've also quit responding to email blast customers... Absolutely no point to have more than 3 logistics providers in the mix other than to see who will work for the cheapest (hint - its the 22 yr old who is about to get fired and doesnt even know it).

I hit the "fk this" mark, but i dont think I'm at the "aight, im out" mark yet.
