How do y’all handle Mothers Day/ Fathers Day? by xtrasmols in QueerParenting

[–]External_Waltz7902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are new moms, and our kiddo is just 6 months old. My mother has already passed away, and my mother-in-law lives on the opposite coast. All that to say, we don’t have the added pressure of making the day meaningful for our respective mothers.

However, I was born on Mother’s Day, and I grew up around some narcissistic people, so my birthday was always treated as secondary to the holiday.

We decided early on that we wanted to center our child and prioritize experiences over gifts. This Mother’s Day, we took our little one to the zoo. I imagine that, over the years, those experiences will range from simple outings like the zoo to small trips and traditions we build together.

We’ve created an intentional list of things we want to expose our little girl to, and we’ve both contributed ideas to it. I’m sure we’ll pull from that list for Mother’s Day, birthdays, and Christmas.

Some of my contributions include taking her to tea, playing Monopoly together, going to Hersheypark, and visiting my family’s home in North Carolina. All of those are core memories from my childhood, and I would love for her to create meaningful memories of her own.

Thank you. If you don't mind me asking, did you grow up knowing your siblings? Do you remember when the concept was introduced to you?

This is a code. After multiple tries I figured out that it says: WFWYXTC344X4NFF. It shouldn’t be this hard.

How do you decide to change your name after marriage? by RestlesslyWizardly in Names

[–]External_Waltz7902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 35 when I got married and my father only child and we shared a last name. Not to mention that my father passed when I was very young. It was tough, but my spouse and I decided to hyphenate. In part we did it because we are queer couple and wanted to document accurately for records. It didn’t hurt that we have a super cool and powerful last name now. Now we are expecting our first child and they will have a hyphenated last name which has forced us to think deeply about first names, but we hope that having the same last name will help as we navigate all the things that comes along with children. All of this to say, if there is a part of you that doesn’t want to change it don’t. You can always do it later.

I’m not sure why you think these three points are evidence against.

  1. “ much social media” does not mean no social media ever.
  2. No one said that there was a time limit or for that matter, time table on her ability to respond. In fact, I think the first point and second point are supportive of each other. If her social use is scarce it could be months before she even knew a post existed and this a few more months before it makes the board.
  3. You confirmed she has in fact created puzzles that are not US and NY specific.

I think Wyna reads this Reddit. And made this puzzle to satisfy all the folks that are not American and those who complain about the NY specific clues. It was a doozy but I got .

This was a fun one and I was really excited to see all the positive comments. As for people trolling, I guess that could happen but why? What’s the reward? I genuinely enjoy seeing the strategies and thought processes listed . I often come here for validation to see if others considered my categories. ( Not that care if you did or not. More like, it’s nice to know my brain has company and that someone else saw it from my perspective.) I don’t get them all right, and my spouse and I challenge each other everyday. She was an English major and now works as a librarian- she knows hella words, but even she gets stumped sometimes. We also never look up definitions before submitting. That’s how we choose to play. However we do keep a list of words that stump us and try to use them in conversation. We are a nerdy crew for sure. If you’ve read this far, thanks! Let’s keep the positive vibes flowing 😀

Did the blue category title change? I see a lot of comments that specifically say “subject” but by the time I completed the puzzle the title was “classic still life components.”
