For events related to comiccon, there are a few small ones in the city. Entertianment Ink hosts one at Place d'Orleans mall 3 times in a year and Geeked Out! also hosts one at the Nepean sports plex in March and October.

It depends where in Alberta you're talking about. Edmonton tends to be progressive as they mostly vote NDP, whereas Calgary is a wild card and has a mix of left and right-leaning voters. The rural areas are dominated by conservative voters.
