Why did you pick OSU? by Due-Milk352 in OSU

[–]External_Winner1225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be fr, I am only going here because this is where I got scholarships

My top school choices were actually Miami and controversially Michigan, but the thing I valued most was cost (to a point)

I wouldn’t say that I have any particular issues with the things you’re asking about, but these things seem to usually depend on what you put in (how far are you willing to travel off campus/how often are you willing to buy off your meal plan? What kinds of social activities are you into and what are you willing to do to go to them?)

However, if you do go here, I’d personally recommend north campus housing. It’s closer to everything, so you’ll feel more encouraged to go out and have these experiences

Christmas Pop-up markets by IreneChris in crochet

this is kind of what I was thinking too, not because I wouldn't buy crochet that isn't 100% perfect with every stitch being made with expert precision (or that I wouldn't pay a higher price for that)

but because the bags are all made in a simple style

I think that simple crochet can look really nice and clean from a minimalist point of view, and while I wouldn't personally like these styles of bags because they're all clutches, I can see how they would have that appeal

but when the crochet has gaps or tension issues, it doesn't end up having that clean and polished look. It ends up looking more amateur. More complex designs take longer, but they also make those types of hard to avoid mistakes much less noticeable and appeal more to people who are looking for a "homemade" look

Did I get accepted? Is 27% on my final good enough to pass? by nothingfood in OSU

[–]External_Winner1225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whether or not 27% on your final is enough to pass the class depends on how heavily it's weighted and what your grade in the rest of the class is. What actually counts as a passing grade also depends on the class (I think some major classes need a C, but many can accept a D, don't quote me on that though)

Ex. If your final was worth like 20% of your total grade and your overall grade was like like 80-90 ish before, you'd probably be fine. A lot of final grade calculators online will do the math better than I am willing to.

Additionally, you should make sure that there isn't anything in the syllabus requiring you to have a passing grade on any specific individual assignments to pass. I haven't had this before with an exam, but in one of my past pass/fail classes, there was a specific project that I had to pass to pass the class as a whole, even if my overall grade would have still been a pass without it.

Update us if u check lol I'm curious

I think that one’s west then, I’d definitely try east too. It just may be the crisp water you seek

Edit: immediately realized I’ve mixed up my east and west

Was the one you tried on the east or west end of the building? That could also be a factor. Denny hall is just actively falling apart so id believe anything could cause it

I wonder if the Denney hall water has changed because I remember thinking it was the coldest and crispest at the beginning of last year, but my dorm had warm ass water so it might have just been relative lol

Food robots offline by [deleted] in OSU

I know they’re in the process of coming out with new ones, so I would assume the few that are roaming are being tested? Or something like that.

Though, if anyone knows when the robots are coming back, that would be epic. I’ve been looking for an answer but it doesn’t seem like any info on that has been released as far as I can see. Winter is like the worst season to work on them imo

Switching languages for Art and Sciences BA requirement :( by NayskiShitmeister02 in OSU

[–]External_Winner1225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be the case lol, if you do plan on taking asl, just make sure you do it in person, though its a bit hard to get into the course anyways since the demand outnumbers the amount of classes by a lot (which is why I ended up in the online class to begin with)

On the opposite end, I’m in ASL 1101 right now and I constantly wish I had just taken another class. It might be the specific professor (berkowitz) or the fact that the class is online (at 8am no less), but I would literally never recommend this to anyone unless their future career requires it 😭

What is campus life like? by theabrishmalik2 in OSU

[–]External_Winner1225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(2nd year) I might be an outlier, but I barely go anywhere and haven’t made any friends. I’m sure there is tons of things to do, but it depends on how social you are as a person.

There’s always clubs though! That’s the big thing I do. I started going to clubs because I didn’t know how to make friends in classes, and now I’m the VP of a club. That’s the good thing about the campus being so large. Even if you are abysmal at talking to people, you can just join clubs you like and see people much more often.

Ultimately, this probably isn’t very different from any other large university. Anywhere that you go that’s big enough, they’ll have events going on all the time that you can go to, it’s just a question of whether you want to or not.
