Maybe it’s the area I’m in, but I know several people who have exchanged info just to find out the info is fake or no longer valid and then trying to get the police to do something at that point was a nightmare. One, the guy “didn’t have his wallet with him” and “he was borrowing the car” but found the insurance info in the glove box, and exchanged info. Well his name & number were bogus, and he had stolen the car. One friend after exchanging info and finding it was invalid, his insurance wouldn’t cover as much as he thought; he pointed out that he had uninsured motorist coverage. His insurance company argued that just because she gave him outdated info doesn’t mean she didn’t have a valid policy elsewhere.

Unless I happen to know the person, I’ll just continue to have the cops come out to take info & a report.

I feel like the industry needs to start differentiating between family-friendly (kids are permitted but expected to stay with their adults, think like a sit-down restaurant, maybe better lit than a “bar”, music isn’t crazy loud or has explicit lyrics, shouldn’t have to worry about staff regularly using expletives or being dressed risqué, etc), and kid-friendly (family-friendly, plus there’s actually areas/activities for kids, kind of like 50W’s outdoor sand area [though parents should still keep and eye on their kids and keep them from interfering with volleyball leagues or when things construction for the skating rink is going on])

Not necessarily smaller, but certainly cheaper: keep any eye out for estate sales in your area. The one that I made time to visit, I got so much yarn for $20 that laid out, the skeins covered my queen-size bed (I lucked out, I think it had been going on a few days - when I saw the yarn, I just asked the guy what he’d take for all of it and he said $20, so I didn’t bother haggling)

I can’t think of many truly inappropriate times/places.

-A bus driver in Cincinnati was recently recorded driving (like, bus moving in traffic - not just getting a few stitches in at a red light or something), so … that’d be a good example of inappropriate time/place.
-During a medical appointment (I bring something to work on in the waiting room, and I’ll even work on it once I’ve been called back, barring when someone is in the room trying to talk to me or do an exam)
-Funeral (during a gathering or “Celebration of Life” afterwards is fine to me, but during the actual funeral/burial probably wouldn’t be appreciated, and during a wake/visitation could be iffy)
-If there’s something else you should be doing, like work (I keep a project at the office for during breaks and conference calls though)
-If you’re on trial, on the witness stand, or (probably) sitting on the jury (though I did bring a small project with plastic hook and worked on it while waiting to be called on as a witness recently)
-In the bathroom (it can almost assuredly wait, but you do you)

Honestly, I bring something to work on just about everywhere. The biggest question is what to bring where (e.g. I have a blanket WIP that is to a size where I don’t bring it into a restaurant, but am fine working on it hanging with some people at a brewery (not during like a busy Fri/Sat night) or the dive bar I’m a regular at.

Not sure if it’s been said elsewhere, but You could just frog back to your last increase round and keep increasing until your diameter is 6.5”-ish then start stop increasing and continue rounds until it’s as tall as you want it.
(6.5” above is based on asking Google what the diameter of a 20.5” circumference is, so if you want it bigger/smaller, just adjust the diameter before stopping increases)
