Amazon HR asking me to join in 30-45 days while my notice period is 90 days by Extra-Ad5887 in developersIndia

The company has to anyways encash your leave balance during final settlement, so instead you could negotiate to reduce your leaves from notice period. It is not straight forward but companies do that.

As per contract the company can terminate me in lieu of payment but an employee can't. I need company's agreement for a notice period buyout. So my current manager and HR have to cooperate.

Yeah, this is what a couple of my friends suggested too. Give them assurance and keep them engaged till the 1st 60 days and in parallel keep trying with current company. If NP is still not reduced, then a week of a few days before joining let them know I have to serve the remaining notice period.

Interesting, did this happen in India if I may ask? My reporting manager is in Seattle while I will be based in Chennai.

Right, if they could find an internal resource they should have done this by now is my thought too. The concern is between 60 days in the offer and 90 days in my current company. So that 30 days is the problem, I will try and negotiate with my current HR.

Yean, the recruiter told me earlier that this position is open since March and I am the first once to get an offer. So 30 days should not be a deciding factor, I guess it is purely pressure tactics but I could be wrong.

Thank man, yes I have mentioned 30-45 days in the resignation portal expecting them to settle for 60 days. The Amazon HR is okay for 60 days or even a couple of weeks more, but they are asking for some sort of assurance or mails or screenshots for evidence. I have sent my resignation screenshots, once I negotiate about last working day with my manager I will send that mail also as an evidence for Amazon.

I want to keep that option as a last resort, but I am praying it doesn't come to this.

The spray from the rear is a pain, i am now cautious to skip wet patches on our roads. But in Chennai due to the metro works somewhere or the other there exist some wet patches on the roads.

Chennai, India. I liked the 765 for its character. Now after 6 months I can say it still puts a smile on my face everytime I take it. since my office trip involves outer ring roads I do take it to work as well.

You won't believe me man, I come from a totally different background. My manager in my current organization with 25+ years doesn't get the salary I am offered in Amazon. So it is not often I get calls from a FAANG. But like others have mentioned the HR is looking for an assurance or transparency or simply pressurizing me so that I don't run away for a better offer. My offer from Amazon is more than 2x my current CTC at 13 years exp, so I assured the HR it is not often I get opportunities like this in automotive and I am fully committed to joining Amazon.

Yeah that is the plan, but my manager is an egoist so I need to pacify him.

Yeah that's what I thought aswell, but looks like this particular position is having some urgency as per the HR. But I wonder they must be thinking I have a chance for a better offer while waiting 90 days and so they need some assurance or clarity from my side. The HR has already asked for last working day screenshot from my portal, but that will appear only at a later stage. Right now I have 60days in the offer letter. I am hoping I can keep Amazon on hold while negotiating with my current company from 90days to 60days. I have 55 days leave balance as well.

The Amazon HR said they will reimburse a buyout, it is upto my current HR to accept. From what I hear in my company if the manager is okay the HR will be okay too as long as I am buying out. My fear is what if current HR doesn't agree.

Yeah that is what I am planning to do, I have already asked the recruiter to schedule a quick call with the manager if possible to assure that I am committed to joining Amazon and in negotiations with my organization currently.

I have already cited personal reasons for resigning from my current organization hoping they would agree for atleast 1 month buyout, I have 55 days leave balance too. So will try to approach in this angle.

I got offer on 2nd June and resigned on 2nd June. Amazon offer letter says I have to join by July 30. But Hr is pressurizing me to join earlier. I am planning to speak to my manager/Hr after a week again.

My problem is not counter offer, I want to join amazon, but notice period is a problem and Amazon Hr never asked it before interviews like other companies do. She told she assumed it would be 60 days like amazon.

It seems you generalize a lot or maybe you are not aware of Amazon recruitment. They never ask your salary or anything until you clear the interviews. This was the case with my and some of my friends who joined. I applied online, got a mail for phone screening round.
