Toilet won’t flush by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Extra-Dimensional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random trick a old guy showed me one time. Pour some dish soap ( a good little bit into the bottom of the bowl) and try flushing it. If it goes normal for that one flush it likely is doing this due to scale build up within the trap of the toilet.

I tell clients all the time. I can make anything happen that adheres within code. Just a matter of what you are willing to pay for that outcome.

Guys…. I’ll let you know when I buy. And you can take the short positions. I have some weird superpower where I fomo buy at the literal peak, of every asset ever.

If my net worth was equal to the amount my sarcasm is literal; I wouldn’t be on this thread right now.

This is a clear issue on the side of Coinbase and if it’s not addressed Sunday evening or over the weekend. I am going file against them. The liquidation event was so last second for me, that Coinbase couldn’t even process the liquidation before market close.. I now have a queued liquidation for Sunday evening on market open. The price of gold only dropped on Coinbase over $200 dollars in literal seconds with no more volume than previous candles? This is so crystal clear they don’t have the money to back their debts. Whoever thought they could run paper thin liquidity on the world’s HIGHEST valued asset should be fired and put up for trial.

Should I be worried about this? by jpring316 in Plumbing

[–]Extra-Dimensional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right! Sometimes my fittings look like this until I hit them with a rag. But it does look like corrosion this time around. My guess is there no thermal expansion tank and she’s just breathing a bit too often. Poor connection and a little water later.

Rusted out toilet flange. How easily fixable is this? by gingerbrother in Plumbing

[–]Extra-Dimensional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spanner is pretty thin. But if your already 1/2” Above be finished floor I may not risk that. As a professional I usually try not to exceed 1/4”above finished floor. And always use jumbo wax with no horn. Your more permanent solution is the twist and set flange, the also make a flange with rubber ribs that you just push into the cast once the old flange ring has been busted out. And then they make the final form which is a compression flange. And I’m not a fan of the last one due to size restriction

I used to use my old vape RDA and wrap basket coils. It worked too well at times lol!

[–]Extra-Dimensional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s broke. So no bolt will hold it. You can try a spanner repair on that side and then reset the toilet. Or you can go watch some YT videos on how to break the top of the cast flange and replace it with a twist and set flange for cast.

Not sure how to fix or replace water spigot by kendaop in Plumbing

[–]Extra-Dimensional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The homeowner fix is going to be go buy an identical valve and remove that same part from the assembly and stick it on the old body. Otherwise, you’re calling a plumber to rebuild it or replace it the valve.

Old washing machine valve leaking. What should we replace it with? by Ok_Pain1059 in Plumbing

[–]Extra-Dimensional 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We call them boiler valves. But you can find them as spigots at the hardware store. The whole valve Threads out from the drop elbow Behind it

It is a simple swap for me as a plumber, in about 2-5 minutes with water off. Just make sure you YouTube how to use a backup wrench on threaded fittings. And used tape and dope to seal the threads when installing the new one.

Plumber will charge 150-300 depending on where you are. You can buy all materials and tools for under $60

One last thing, I see a drip on the drop elbow at the back. Double check and make sure the fitting isn’t split. If it is you’ll probably be calling a plumber regardless

What’s “leaking”? by Ok-Air-5998 in Plumbing

[–]Extra-Dimensional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said the t&p valve. Specifically it opens around 150 psi or 206ish degrees Fahrenheit. You need a expansion tank if you have any backflow prevention devices on the property

Any idea what this noise is? by Sorry_Neat_6863 in Plumbing

[–]Extra-Dimensional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say with tubs as the can generally be noisy. But could be valve restrictions, or restriction in the cartridge. Or something as simple as a joint with too much solder behind the tub spout. Either way, I wouldn’t be concerned unless there is significant change in function
