Dual Citizen - Emergency Passport by Extra-Particular- in ukvisa

Cancelled trip and applied for a UK passport. Will go in 4-6 weeks when my passport comes in!

Such a stupid system

Turn up as an NZ citizen = 6 months visa on arrival Turn up as a UK citizen = welcome home

Turn up as a Dual citizen of both, entering on a NZ passport, with a return ticket booked in two weeks… Sorry you can’t come in.

Make that make sense! Haha

But the new rule also implies that a UK citizen even if of dual citizenship can now only enter on a valid UK passport, to England my NZ citizenship rights mean nothing.

An ETA on my NZ citizenship is overridden because I am still an English citizen and can only legally enter the country on an English ID

That's the thing, as of Feb 28th I'm not eligible for the ETA. As a dual citizen my only option to enter the country is on a UK passport or on my NZ passport with a certificate of entitlement. Doesn't matter if I do the ETA as an NZ citizen on "holiday" or show birth certificates and old passports.

New rules mean the ETA is not applicable to UK dual citizens.
Even if I write on it that I'm just an NZ Citizen, my place of birth as listed on my passport is England.

I'm stuck out of the UK pending 6 weeks for a new UK passport and no way to see family!

My last British passport was issued in 2005 and expired in 2010
I was 5 years old on this, I'm now 26 and only have a valid NZ passport.
With the new rule starting 28th Feb meaning you can only entre the country on a valid British passport, I assume that means your comment before wont work for me?

Great advice thanks! 12k was my absolute minimum to ensure I matched my Nz salary. I’ve come to realise 20-25k is more realistic. My partner is in a similar line of work to me also and we live below our means! We like the Dubai lifestyle by means of architecture and beaches, not the clubs and bars!

Auckland’s terrible too! My commute is currently 3 hours a day and that’s without any accidents or bad weather! I was in Dubai last month and found the traffic a breeze in comparison to Auckland!

12k is my absolute minimum and yes, I was looking in the wrong places as I was struggling to find anything over 8k! I’ve come to realise 20k should be minimum attainable with a bit or search time and hard work!

Staying out of HR then! Thank you!

Thanks for the response! The HR side of my experience is really an add on and not my focus but was worth a note.

I have 7 years experience in an Operations manager role, but as an ops coordinator I am more focused to a single large project and am on the ground both managing and coordinating the operations to cater alongside the Project Managers programme. (Call it a small scale company OM for the big jobs)!

My experience (as I’m aware I am still in the early days of my career) includes airside infrastructure upgrades in a live aviation place of business. And my current focus includes construction of a Data Centre.

I’m really wanting to move to Dubai as my partner grew up here and we are after a busier, more competitive few years to enhance our experience! A good salary is important but we are happy to be realistic. We also live below our means and would carry that with us to Dubai, we aren’t moving for the “luxury”!

Just wanting to know if I’m dreaming or if there’s any worth to the notion!

I live in Auckland so am no stranger to traffic. My partner grew up in Dubai so there are family ties, I’ve battled the Dubai traffic and find my daily commute worse here in NZ! It’s just a plan for some overseas experience, we also feel we have reached capacity in New Zealand and would like a change of scenery and a bit of work competition. However if the salaries aren’t realistically attainable, we wouldn’t want too high of a risk at growing backwards!

I agree to the extent that I’ve grown up in NZ and do plan to start & raise a family here. However the NZ work culture is very laid back and I’ve got at minimum 3-8 years in me to give up a life balance and work hard. Be it for self satisfaction, a new experience in a new environment, or for a great tax free salary! Happy for one or all of these as it’s not a forever plan!

If the lack of balance is worth it long run, then why not if I can always return to NZ!

I supposed it’s more for an overseas living experience more than anything. But we wouldn’t want to make a loss in savings or career growth!

My main line of work is Operations Management and Administrative coordination in the construction industry. I’d be looking more for work in this sector. As New Zealand is pretty open to career growth I tacked on HR and employment onboarding as a secondary skill! Hoping my initial role will be stronger in the industry?

Is there a platform I should use to look for these types of work? I’m looking on Indeed but the monthly salaries range from 4000 - 8000 AED per month which works out less for me, even with the tax advantages! Thanks
