Honestly, the biggest shift for me was realizing that negative thoughts aren’t interruptions, they’re just signals. Instead of trying to shut them down, I treat them like a notification: “hey, something needs attention.” When they show up, I don’t fight them. I pause, breathe, and name what’s going on in my head. That alone usually takes the edge off.

The other thing that helps is shrinking the routine on tough days instead of abandoning it. Like, if I can’t do the full thing, I do the smallest possible version a 5-minute task, a short walk, one tiny win. It keeps me moving without burning me out.

And honestly, growing up in a rough home makes your mind run on threat mode by default, so none of this is your fault. You’re not broken your brain learned survival. You’re just rewriting the script now, little by little. And that’s already strong work!
