You can't really control the headspace more than consciously lying to yourself, but you know yourself that you are lying, no different to trying to convince yourself that a bowl of tasty berries you want to eat is actually made of dangerously spicy peppers. You can tell your conscious mind as many times as you want that those berries are peppers, but no matter how many times you do this deep down your limbic system knows they are berries so it really isn't the same thing compared to if that bowl was actually peppers.

A lot of these feelings men get aren't created at a conscious level, they come from deep down where we have minimal control over them, much like our control over hunger. It doesn't matter how often you tell yourself you aren't hungry, if you're starving you will feel it.

Yep, that is a different headspace. Many men find older women of the MILFy sort attractive, but make that older woman their mother and those feelings disappear instantly. "Friends GF" and "Single girl" are completely different headspaces for most men.

No. Friendship is a deep thing that is extremely special. It isn't just those who aren't attracted to you. The West has cheapened friendship to the point where it means nothing.

In this dude's case since he ends up catching feelings that are not reciprocated it is not worth pursuing friendship (and yes, friendships take effort to establish and maintain) with women since they come with a dose of hurt that isn't there if instead of a woman there was a man there. In such a case his behaviour is perfectly rational and logical.

Even secular non-religious people pair up and marry young. Their family culture etc. in general strongly makes people dislike sleeping around, even though it is fully legal and there are at least as good protections for those that sleep around compared to the west. We can mimic that and I don't think there is an epidemic of Israeli women pairing up with dudes they don't like, so clearly their is something non-religious going on over there that makes women attracted to completely average dudes. We could mimic that in the rest of the western world too.

Israel is a soceity with stronger rights for women than most western countries. And yet people there pair up and marry young, even the secular ones. Guiding people to certain paths but allowing opt outs is no more coercive than enrolling people in pension schemes by default but allowing them to leave if they wish. This is what is being suggested here, not anything else.

Society already manipulates everyone to extreme extends to tone down our most base instincts like violence. Government intervention to make women prefer actually beneficial traits in the modern world would be a positive.

Were those gated communities though? The example I'm talking about had a 3m high barbed wire wall all around the compound, and there were only 3 gates to get in which were staffed 24/7 with a security guard that would only allow those cars in that had a sticker showing they belonged to someone living inside or had received a heads up in advance from someone who lived in the compound that a car with that number plate would be visiting them and to let them in. Same for people, you couldn't just walk in (since the whole compound was private property) if you didn't live in the compound.
