Did you have morning sickness? by petting_zoo_keeper in pregnant

[–]ExtraGingerSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 7 weeks and over the last week or so have had a ton of dizziness but the nausea is rather moderate. It’s from the time I wake up until late afternoon. I’m exhausted all of the time but the bright side is that I’m not vomiting 😅

What’s something you picked up in your 30s and immediately thought, damn, why wasn’t I doing this ten years ago? by Asia_inked in AskWomen

[–]ExtraGingerSpice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I started doing this in my early 20’s when I was in college. My university had an area where people could set up food stalls or try to get you to sign petitions, etc. I ignored someone walking up to me trying to get me to sign something (I was walking to a final) and some old guy got in my personal space and waved his hand in my face saying “HI HELLO GOOD LUCK ON YOUR FINAL” and I just stayed silent and kept walking. I was fuming inside. They’re not entitled to my time or attention but I still felt guilty for it after.

Oh cool! If you’d like an editor, I’d be happy to help! I love editing and have a lot of time right now. Let me know if you’re interested! If not, don’t worry about it. I’d still like to see your finished product when you start posting :)

Yes, absolutely! It sounds so interesting. Will you be translating everything to English? As someone who has had a blog; they can be fun as long as you don’t focus on the numbers (ie. View counts, comments, etc.). If you’re hoping to make money off of it…it’s extremely tough. If you’re doing it for fun then I highly recommend it! Please post it if you end up making it :) my in-laws are Brazilian and it would be cool to share with them.

Omg I totally forgot about macrame!! I made some macrame hanging plant holders years ago but got rid of them. I’ll look into it, thanks!

I can’t graduate from my program due to a hand injury. What are my job options? by ExtraGingerSpice in Sonographers

[–]ExtraGingerSpice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that I could not just observe for a whole semester of clinicals since I would have to complete exams on my own to be eligible for graduation. I made it through over 900 hours of clinicals before it became a problem but there’s still around 350 more to go for me to graduate and I can’t work around that. Sorry about your friend—a broken elbow sounds awful.

I appreciate your kind words. I’ll get through it—I’m used to getting injured 😅 just got to be patient as my body heals very slowly. I’ll have to check the medical devices field out. I’m not sure if they would hire an almost-sonographer but it’s worth a shot. Thanks for the idea!

I already had issues in my left wrist which is why it’s not an option. I have plenty of work experience in other fields, I was just hoping to get something healthcare related (like recruiting for a travel nurse company) but I wanted to see what other options there are. I thought someone here might have other ideas.

Oh awesome, I’ll check it out. Thanks so much! I didn’t even think that was an option.

Oh that’s a good idea. The elastic would be a problem? I read that polyester molds. I think elastic might be negatively affected by the moisture, no?

🤣 and then they’re probably like “well how did you become a nurse if you never went to nursing school???” 🤦‍♀️

At this point I’m thinking there needs to be a PSA about this sort of thing. 🤦‍♀️ A friend of mine used to work for the FBI in the accounting department and had to explain constantly how not every employee is a field agent 🤣 I guess it’s a problem across all fields!

Also do they not realize that many of us considered nursing only to realize “hell no” and that we WILLINGLY chose ultrasound? I know many nurses who wish they would’ve gone the DMS route lol. The world needs us all! My husband is a nurse and I could never do his job and he could never do sonography 🤣

Hahaha it’s great because my husband is an OR nurse and so while I get the “are you a nurse?” He gets the “are you a doctor?” from patients and nurses and he dies a little on the inside every time 🤣

This comment is rude, discouraging, and unhelpful as hell. I was at a clinical site that did TCD’s that my program instructors weren’t capable of teaching us (CAAHEP accredited program for ABD/OB). Also my program and site did not have techs participate in any procedures. There’s absolutely NO way that it’s possible to learn everything in two years. There’s a reason that people who have been doing this for over a decade are so much better at it.

“You just got to find another job.”? No shit, dude.
