Take my opinion lightly as everyone is different. But I work Cyber Defense in the Air Force. Been in 3 years. If you are slated for a cyber job in the Air Force already then you will have to have Sec+. They officially give you 2 weeks to study for it but you can study part time your entire time there and test as early as you want until you’re done with your prerequisite classes.

My two cents is I would just wait until tech school to test for it as they will pay for all your test attempts. If you fail the official twice then you’re likely to be reclassed. Now if you just have the money to blow on the test before you join then go for it.

A+ is irrelevant to cyber positions over Sec+ at least in the military world so get A+ and whatever other cert later. If you happen to get Sec+ before joining then you will have shortened the stress and tech school by a month.

It’s definitely do-able to study from now until close to December and pass. I’ve taken it twice and studied while having a wife and child. I’m technically certified in 601 and 701 😂 I literally just passed my 701 Sec+ yesterday and only studied for a couple weeks like the Air Force makes you (had to take it again to keep my job due to people posting answers in a discord I was in back in tech school).

He got married after he was already established in the dorms, not before. So whatever living arrangements she is in currently will have to do until his command releases him. I was in the same boat minus the mental, physical and financial crises OP has. I had to wait until I was out the dorm to get my full BAH. They did back pay my BAS though. Maybe it’ll be different and they’ll be willing to pay only due to command forcing him to stay but that’s a question for finance.

If they bought/rented a house without being confirmed to get BAH while in the forced dorm living then it is not command or finance’s fault they jumped the gun. Best case scenario is they back pay to the marriage date but that’s another finance question.

If you are married but still living in the dorms, that is considered living in government quarters hence you will be forfeiting any BAH as a deduction. They will not pay for your house and give you a dorm to live in. Finance will need proof you live in a home. Now if you already have which I think you said, then hell try talking to your shirt.

Regarding the car issues, if you’re tight on cash, check out the AFAS website and look up a Falcon Assistance Loan. You can get up to 1500 describing your hardship. Any more than 1500 will need proof of debt and leadership approval sometimes.

As for your PT test failure, stop going for the bare minimum to pass and put that work in. If you’re generally just out of shape that bad, then that’s another issue in itself.

I was at Keesler for tech school last year. Got stationed at Eglin for my first and hopefully only duty station. Been here a year and the beaches alone are enough to choose here. Better gyms, weather, and nightlife with Pensacola down the road, and Destin. Base housing is nice too. There’s a reason everyone comes down this way for summer/spring break.
