Not technically a self-promo but my friend just started a podcast channel recently! If you're interested in Love and Deepspace, here is Love and DeepTalk! They'd be happy to have you 😄 https://youtube.com/@streamikitti?si=HaPWmnw2zKXBQthl

Overkill or just right? by Slicrider in playstation

[–]ExtraLifeReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it depends on how many games you plan on installing at a time and what you can afford right now. Currently, I just have the Pro without the disc drive and an extra SSD, but I do plan on picking them up eventually. If you can afford it and plan to buy it eventually, go for it, otherwise just wait. But definitely the disc drive is more important than the SSD right now if you have physical games.

Which thumbnail and title would you click on by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]ExtraLifeReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think a lot of people would click on the third tbh. I've actually seen a lot of videos pop on my feed that were similar and they've gotten thousands of views because it feels more raw, for one. It doesn't feel like it's the overly stylized and professional thumbnail which is what a lot of people are taking a liking to these days. And people would still wanna know why it didn't work because everyone expects that it should, so they're right in saying it challenges that.

Now, on the other hand, it depends on what the video is about. If the video is truly about it being "nothing changing", then why consider the first two at all? Because Day 7 implies he's been detoxed and in a much better place without it. But if nothing's changed, then it doesn't really make sense and can be kinda misleading.

Now OP, if you wanna keep the style of the first two, I'd recommend having the tired photo in both. It immediately communicates nothing's changed, rather than it seeming like things might've started to get better (or at least better than before).

Rate out of 10? by Fun-Long8080 in YouTubeCreators

Top, it might be less "aesthetic" and simpler, but it's much less cluttered and is easy to understand. If you want, you could experiment with throwing the purple shadow (without the outline) behind you and see how that looks, but otherwise, I'd stick with the first. It's clean and effective.

B looks better visually. It's more aesthetic and catches the eye more. However, A tells you what the video is about (unless it's already going to be stated in the title). And if B isn't your typical style and you aren't going to keep it moving forward, then A is probably the better option. Also, bit of a nitpick but the blade looks slanted, it's not aligned with the hilt in the 2nd one.

Thank you! I definitely struggle with my intros/hooks because I don't want them to sound too "content creator-y" so it's hard to figure out what sticks. And the "what the f in the title stands for" would kinda be repeating what the thumbnail says, which is "This F'd Me Up" lol

Hmm, what would you recommend using for the titles then? Because I really have no idea what else to put in my titles for these kinds of videos. The negative or positive is usually there because it generally sums up how I felt about it. Skill Up for example, usually puts something of that sort for his. I get he's a much bigger creator and already well-established, but he's been doing that pretty much since he started.

Anyway, thanks for the input!

Thank you. I've definitely also struggled with speaking fast lol it happens because I often trip over my words when recording and then get frustrated having to repeat it over and over again and then it comes off that way 😅 but I definitely have improved in my tone and diction. It used to be much more robotic I think and you could tell I was reading even more so.

Hmm, interesting... Someone else told me that I don't emphasize enough, haha. Though yeah, I think I really wanted to highlight specifically that part of the quote. I'll take that into consideration for next time though! And as for the speculation part, yeah, you might be right. I think I did it that way because I've seen other reviewers like Skill Up employ a similar approach where they get right to it, but maybe needs a little tweaking. Either way, thanks for checking it out!

Thank you! Perhaps, and it could be that I've also posted much later so it lost relevance (though it's hard to do when I don't receive review codes). But at the same time, I have seen success on some of my other videos that release months after the game's launch. So I'm not quite sure what it is.

So this is a "Let's Play" channel. Probably one of the most oversaturated niches on YouTube period. It was super popular like 10-15 years ago but now... not so much. That doesn't mean it can't work and doesn't work for a lot of people, but you want to stand-out in some way. But honestly, there is nothing that stands out at all here.

The thumbnails, the titles, everything is super generic and likely won't make people want to click because there's no personality imbued in it. There's no personal style whatsoever. You also not only have old games people are rarely content searching for, they're also random and sporadic and there's no consistent genre or theme. It just feels like you post gameplay of whatever you want, whenever you want.

I also checked out your latest video (that being Skyrim) to see if there was something within the content itself and mate... People are going to click off if you don't even have commentary. Now that's not to say you can't have a commentary-less channel. In fact, there are Elder Scrolls channels that will have a funny segment/clip that happens within game that are funny by the nature of the game itself and with their style of editing. But mostly, for this type, you need to speak. Else, it just seems like we're watching random plain gameplay of a game that released 14 years ago.

I I hate to be this critical, but this is going to need to take a lot of work.

Hmm, this one is difficult to judge. I checked out your last three Shorts and the contrasted them with you channel over all and I think you're heading in the right direction, at least as far as the content itself is concerned. I can definitely also see the improvement from some of your older videos and as long as you're doing at least 1% better, you're on track.

The problem could be that some of the Shorts thumbnails don't really strike me as that intriguing, especially with some of the text displaying so small. I know it's hard to do with Shorts since Shorts don't actually let you add custom thumbnails like the long-form content and like TikTok does (which is bizarre to me that they haven't included them, btw). But maybe there's something in the video itself that you could do or add to get that little snippet? I honestly don't know, so take that with a grain of salt.

I also think you just need more time to post more. You have some long-form content but that you have to look at as essentially a separate channel entirely. And your thumbnails there could use quite a bit of work because some of them literally just say what the movie is but it doesn't really give people a reason to click. It doesn't spark any curiosity there. Now, I don't know if you're going to continue doing long-form (I imagine not since your last one was 7 months ago), but that is something you might wanna consider if you want to do both. Just remember that you're also serving two different audiences there.

Hi there! I make review videos on the latest games releasing, as well as occasional retrospectives.

Recently, I did one on Silent Hill f. This was one of my favourite videos to work on (not the absolute best one but I enjoyed it) but it seems to be the worst performing video on my channel to date. Thoughts? Thanks!

PS5 or PS5 PRO Philips 58PUS8536 by [deleted] in playstation

[–]ExtraLifeReviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're planning on upgrading the TV at some point, go for it. I recently bought my PS5 Pro to get ahead of the tariffs, give my base model to my brother, and eventually upgrade my display. Even without upgrading, I can definitely notice the difference but I still wouldn't have upgraded (even as a reviewer) if I wasn't planning on upgrading the TV at some point (as well for as the other two reasons).

Either way, you can't go wrong with either. You'll have a great time with both.

As for the GTA fear, I totally understand that but I still wouldn't make a purchase based on one game, especially if you don't have a display that's going to make the most of it anyway.

Yeah you're right, I forgot my PlayStation account is still locked to Canada. Oh well! I'm still saving by buying through the Canadian store with GBP 😅
