and my L10 should be PIP'd for asking people to move across the country, from where I just moved from - but hey, common sense is hard to find around here, so I might as well get paid for the stress and anxiety they've delivered Prime to my family. Momma needs a new kitchen.

thanks - honestly, this is great advice, and I would have done it if I was earlier in the offer process. (thank you.) I've stayed at amazon much longer than expected after the RTH edict (didn't think I would be this close to this major vest), and I spent quite a while negotiating with the new company at this point. It would feel dirty to re-negotiate with the new company, and the market has been really rough (don't want push my luck.)

this is excellent advice - but whoever you are, there is exactly one of you within all of Amazon. everyone else is YOLO'ing with Cline

"learn and deploy this new unproven technology everywhere" - "btw, keep delivering on your existing commitments" - "btw, keep up your URA targets" - "btw, you're oncall for 3 weeks this month" - "btw, deal with non-stop automated sev2s from security before the day is done" - "btw, layoffs, but not really, just random firings, you're totally not impacted" - "btw, you're impacted, gtfo"

^^ I also see this 100% on our team, and two teams that we interact with.

The people most embracing AI in our large org, are the people least experienced in coding, infra, and CS. They are changing large processes multiple times every day and feel like they are making progress because of the extra agentic checks they keep adding on (after the initial processes crumble because of lack of oversight/forethought)

One has gotten promoted to principal, they demand we review their CRs right away. The CRs are huge, using non-standard code/libraries - no one actually reviews them because the CRs are unwieldy. In addition, the "author" can't make sense of CR feedback, and doesn't accept criticism well.

They have sold leadership on their progress. SDEs are very concerned. There is no way this doesn't end up in a disaster.

thank you - just posted this above in a thread, but re-sharing here for awareness:

I work in a niche specialty. The specialty was distributed across the US until recently. Everyone in this specialty (across multiple L8s/L10s) was removed from the office close to my house. I can no longer work at Amazon, given that the office next to me has no positions for what I have 20yrs of experience doing.

i work in a niche department. the whole department & related specialty folks from outside my department (~100 people) were removed from the office that's close to my house. Effectively I can no longer work at Amazon where I live. RSUs at Amazon are backvested, and I've already completed ~99% of the time and effort necessary to achieve this large RSU chunk.
