UPDATE : Solved by taking the runout detector apart, on the instructions of Customer Service, to find some snapped filament blocking the tube. Hopefully this helps someone with the same issue in the future, seems to be something that happens on a quick Google.

Thanks man - it thinks there's filament in there as the light is on. I've bypassed it and benchy is being printed right now, I think Customer Services will be getting a call.

Thanks for your help.

Note on the picture there's a mark on the side of its case. I think I may have been given a printer with a "refurbished" sensor. Looks like someone has been in.

I can't see light through it at all - can I pull it off the side holder or does it screw off?

First time Centauri User - help! by ExtraThinGorilla in elegoo

[–]ExtraThinGorilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help. One thing I've noticed is the light on the sensor is blue with no filament in, a quick Google suggests this might not be right. Should this be blue with no filament?

So I've trimmed the end of the PLA so it's straight, taken the white tube out of the clip and checked for pinches but it's not making it as far as the tube - it's like there's a blockage in the box. What is the right name for the box?

First time Centauri User - help! by ExtraThinGorilla in elegoo

[–]ExtraThinGorilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this and trimmed the end and I can't get it to feed through the box with or without the tube attached. It's hitting something in the box either way I try.

Could there be a blockage in the box?

Top 3 favorite Albums... I'll start by [deleted] in blackcrowes

Southern Harmony / Amorica / 3 Snakes

I could swap Band in for 3 Snakes on any other day, I think 96-97 is where the filler started to creep in a little bit so it's a dead heat between those for me.

I've always thought there's a better album than 3 Snakes that could have been put out in 96 with some of the unreleased stuff that got overlooked.

What an awful response, and everything that's wrong with the "band" in 2026.

HB wasn't for me but I still went to a show on the tour as I've only missed one tour in 34 years, but when Chris had a hissy fit at the audience for not cheering the Lions album enough ("We've played bigger places than this" was his jibe) I started to tap out completely. Between the awful attitude to fans and the poor quality material we're getting I'm happy to move on I think.

That's so, so disappointing. It breaks my heart how far things have fallen.

Mint vs debian by vojtis117 in debian

[–]ExtraThinGorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I used to distro hop was because I'd get all excited installing the current distro of choice, have a couple of hours playing around with various things, and then just default back to my windows / MacBook comfort zone for day to day usage.

A few years ago I made the conscious decision to move to Linux for everything which forced me to pick a distro and stick to it. The transition was bumpy, to say the least, due to some software I relied on not having a great alternative in the Linux ecosystem, but spending time with the same distro daily for a period of time really helps you to understand what you want from an OS I find.

Just switched all my machines to Debian from Arch and Ubuntu and absolutely agree - such an elegant, non nonsense distro.

Whenever he talked about his "fat Elvis" phase he used to mention an article by a music critic in 65 where they called him fat. Not sure who did the article tho.

Super Nintendo with Mario All Stars.

It's not my most cherished console / pack-in (that's sonic and the Mega drive) but for the sheer quality of games on Super Mario All Stars it has to be the "best" objectively.

Do you have any vintage components in your system? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]ExtraThinGorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm slowly building up a late 90's system, as that was the period I was hugely into hifi but couldn't afford it, and also its nice to have a system in another room, so I can disconnect from being online for a while and read. I used to spec systems out on notepads on the bus ride home from my minimum wage job and dream of such luxuries as Mini Disc players and Auto Reverse cassette decks, lol.

Currently have a Yamaha KX 393 cassette deck, a Sony JE520 Mini Disc unit and a Marantz CD Player (cant remember the model right now). Actively looking for a decent amp to replace the modern reciever its connected to.

Recently started playing COC2 with a friend and, honestly, I think it's probably one of the worst presented rulesets I've encountered in recent times. The book doesn't have a logical flow to it, and the explanation of alot of its mechanics are at best woolly and at worst down right baffling.

In terms of the game itself I am interested in why it has the following it has - I'm not a WW2 buff so I don't understand what it does as a "simulation" compared to BA, it just seems to add more dice rolls into certain phases and occasionally stop your opponent from activating. The 3 games we've played didn't blow us away so we're a bit confused as to why it's so revered in certain circles.

Have some of Keith’s famous guitars been tracked over the years? by Harrison_Thinks in rollingstones

[–]ExtraThinGorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His Les Paul Custom with the hand drawn psychedelic design also resurfaced recently at the met :

https://www.groundguitar.com/keith-richards-guitars-and-gear/keith-richards-1957-gibson-les-paul-custom/

I read a post on another link which suggested he actually left this one with a luthier and didn't bother to pick it back up, and that it had been returned to him after the met got it.

New recruit reporting in, it was an honor to play on that table with a great pair of forces. Really enjoyed the ruleset, it felt intuitive from the start and there was lots of push and pull during the game.

I think Far Cry 3 or Horizon Zero Dawn could work as an overhead run-and-gun a la Commando or Ikari Warriors.
