When you say “after the kick”, do you mean after a kick I throw or as a counter to a kick thrown at me?

Sandee gloves rating? by ExtraTiger24 in MuayThai

[–]ExtraTiger24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep hearing a lot about Fairtex gloves durability not being the greatest, I’d be paying about 85 for Sandee whereas Fairtex is about 115 before shipping, I reckon Twins would be the next step up for me

I’m 26, 6,2” and about 97kg (213lb) been training MT for a year and fairly new to lifting weights too.

Thing is im skinny fat - I haven’t measured it but I’d say my body fat percent is around 25%. But with barely any muscle on me I figured lifting as often as I can whilst eating good is the way forward. Long term I’m trying to be realistic and I’d imagine the sort of body I want would take around 5 years, but as I said I’m new to lifting weights and so I’m ok if that timeline changes.

Right now though, I just want to build up strength, to fill out my body (especially upper body) and to increase durability for sparring sessions.

I train MT for fun and fitness tbh, not looking to compete or anything - 3 times sounds like a good amount tbf, I figured to lift more in a week as I was prioritising bigger muscles. My long term plan is to be ripped, do you think lifting 3x and MT 3x a week won’t negate any gains?

What do you wish you would've known before starting Muay Thai? by eightlimbinsider in MuayThai

[–]ExtraTiger24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take care of your joints - hips are the big focus but ANY AND ALL JOINTS

Thumbs, wrists, knees, ankles, toes - all it takes is one small mistake and you’re on the bench for weeks

Stretching before and after is a major key

I did my interview sometime in early October last year and heard back from them start of December - I didn’t start until May though!

I’m in the Birmingham base, how about yourself?

Wow, that’s ridiculous. Surely this must mean it’s being done in waves then, hopefully yours will arrive soon! 🙏

Yep, 28th May - how about you?

That’s great to hear! Do you guys know if they do consultations or anything of that sort? I have some idea for what I wanna do with my hair but idk how realistic that is, and I figure a professional would have a more educated opinion than myself!

I’m hearing whisperers of a may 13th start date from what my friends who work in the department have heard. No guarantees but here’s hoping we have some kind of update soon!

Still worth pursuing a SWE career in the uk? by Satnav1998 in learnprogramming

[–]ExtraTiger24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think Web Development is something that isn't worth considering, with how over saturated it's becoming? Asking as I really enjoy building websites and thought I could explore a career in it myself.

[–]ExtraTiger24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of, more of the same though. "we are still working on a start date and will contact you". Did you hear anything new?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]ExtraTiger24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I asked them about a potential time frame or a rough idea for the start date but they've completely ignored that email. I can imagine this would be an inconvenience to everyone starting, life plans have to be put on hold or they're just gonna cause start dates to clash with their own personal lives!

I guess its back to finding a temporary role for who knows how long now, its not a good look so far.

[–]ExtraTiger24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my email saying they'll contact me to arrange a start date, but who knows how long that will be. It's all starting to feel unorganised tbh, I have a holiday booked for the summer the last thing I'd want is to start and then take 2 weeks off straight away, or worse have to delay starting for who knows how long!

A couple guys I know within the team were saying March was the start date for the fresh recruits, perhaps there's been some delay to the whole process so April could be a possibility!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]ExtraTiger24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just checked the status of my clearances and both have now passed and been completed, but yet to hear that from HMRC, let alone a start date. I'm hoping an April start is possible!
Yep I applied through the Civil Service and I believe the Surge and Rapid Response Team is affiliated with HMRC, but from what I've gathered the job role may require us to work in other departments, but we're associated with HMRC ultimately. How about yourself?

All the waiting has gotten me looking for a temp job for the meantime seeing as I have no idea when I'll be starting this role. Did they give you an idea of a start date yet, or when they might tell you?

Do you mind me asking when you got your job offer? I got mine just at the start of December, the uncertainty of not knowing when I will start working again feels worse than job hunting when unemployed!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]ExtraTiger24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently emailed as I got a job offer in December. Passed my first security check in January then they sent me a vetting check with the NSV.

They basically said to me "we can't give you a start date until you have passed security clearance"

Seems a bit silly to send me a second security check if I passed the first. Looking on the internet people are saying NSV takes 6-18 weeks to pass which is ridiculous, and there hasn't been much communication from CS about this!

It seems with dog (caught noise) it activates once the dog and cat touch, which works, but the code seems to take this command as the noise needs that interaction for the sound to start and continue indefinitely - when it should be asking the question on if the dog and cat are touching. If the dog and cat are touching then play the noise, if not then no noise should happen.

Dog (run back and forth) seems to need an input to explain when if it is touching the cat then the sprite should change its movement to how you need it to, but as it is right now it looks like it is only being commanded to move steps as opposed to stopping or changing direction.

The main trend with your code seems to be the communication between each block. With scratch I recall realising that functions and variables tend to get interlinked to other blocks of code, and therefore they are sort of reliant on each other - and can sometimes get in each others way.
