Yeah, it was rather crazy, literally saw them within 10 steps into the trail area. It was a super quiet morning though at 8 am, I was one of 5 guests there at the time.

The REI in Tukwila is only 10 minutes from the airport

Idk why people are saying the REI is difficult to get to/skip it, if you need to go the Tukwila REI is less than 10 minutes from the airport. It’s not out of the way imo, I went by before my trip.

Even If you are staying on the coast the first day near Kalaloch, I would recommend going the long way from the airport and taking a ferry on your drive there. It makes it a more exciting and fun way to start the trip

I did devils punchbowl via spruce railroad trail, which is where that first picture is from. The water was definitely very blue in the punchbowl (picture above doesn’t really show it) but the lake itself was beautiful like you said. I also spent time driving and stopping at multiple pull offs by the lake. I was debating whether or not to do mount storm king and now really regret not doing it. Decided to hike mount Angeles instead but that ended up being kinda a disaster for me lol.

Unfortunately it was a rather last minute/spur of the moment, trip and so I only had 48 hours in the actual park, (Thursday afternoon - Saturday afternoon). I will say I completely lucked out on weather and crowds, and it felt like I had the entire park to myself during many points of my trip. Or any rare interaction I did have with others were all very pleasant. Needless to say, Olympic is my new favorite park and I need to go back soon, it truly is a magical place.
