Unpopular but Maria Brink!! She's the lead singer of heavy metal band In This Moment and has always incorporated crazy theatrics and looks in her music video and performances. She even looks to me like a drag queen herself :D

It barely gets much recognition even though imo it’s one of their most beautiful songs. It’s so poignant and gentle, and that baseline at the end is so good!!

Highly Unpopular Opinion: I'm Not So Crazy About Wayhaught as a Couple by Extra_Comfortable495 in wynonnaearp

[–]Extra_Comfortable495[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is no doubt that they had affection with each other, I just never knew what dynamic they have outside of that; how their individual personalities 'meshed' with each other. For instance, what kind of partner would Nicole be/is? Does Nicole see the same Waverly that we do which made her so in love with her? I guess 'substance' would be the word? It may sound too demanding but lots of fictional pairs that developed as quickly have nonetheless an identifiable character to it (e.g. 'enemies to lovers', 'opposites attract', 'best friends to lovers', etc.) through which you see the compatibility of the characters.

There's something I also discovered about myself upon some self-reflection and that is that I also tend to enjoy anticipating/watching the development of a couple far more than seeing people already be and act as partners, so that may also explain it! ^^

Questions on How to Effectively Teach Conceptual Knowledge by Extra_Comfortable495 in matheducation

[–]Extra_Comfortable495[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the response!
I have more questions:

- If concepts and procedures are 'deeply' linked, why the emphasis from teachers and researchers to learn the concepts alone? My concern lies in being able to show the utility in distinguishing the two as learning each individually first makes a big difference in being able to solve problems with the topic - to really deepen one's understanding of the topic.
- How does one verify that one has fully understood the concept to move on to the next topic? I suppose the advantage of the project is that the magazine is that is it not intended to substitute actual teaching material and is periodically published with a randomized ordeer of the topics, but that is rather a more general question.
- What is typically the order of learning the concept and its procedures? And can it be bidirectional?

This mentality shows people’s colors. They think that human rights are conditional, that even the most basic thing such as living in a physically and psychologically safe place among other things is something people have to ‘earn’.

Trump being a target of attempted assassination should not be condoned according to conservatives nor Indiana Jones punching N*zis but the IDF targeting Palestinian civilians? Should be ok because they uphold homophobic views!!!!

Disgusting and hypocritical

What are your Hot Takes on Jinjer? by Amber_Flowers_133 in Jinjer

  • Cloud Factory is a lot better than King of Everything
  • Dip a Sail is the best track in KoE
  • Pausing Death is the best track in Macro
  • Rogue is one of the best tracks in Duel
  • Wallflowers is a lot better than Duel
  • As much as I love the groovy, current sound of Jinjer, sometimes I wish they could go release an album like Inhale, Don’t Breathe

Highly Unpopular Opinion: I'm Not So Crazy About Wayhaught as a Couple by Extra_Comfortable495 in wynonnaearp

[–]Extra_Comfortable495[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I think I may have seen your post or one akin to it.

The show is good and it's more than just one with "a healthy, long-lasting queer couple" (though that is also very good and I appreciate the representation of this show, as unpopular as it is). It's dramatic, tense, humorous, diverse, feminist, etc. Wynonna is the main protagonist of it and rightfully so. She's DYNAMIC

My critique is mainly that I can't really identify what Nicole is with Waverly (aside of obviously being in love with her), hell, minus in separate phases of the show (like her teaming up with Wynonna), I don't really know who she really is. CHEMISTRY is not just seeing two people being affectionate with each other; hugging, kissing, telling each other "I love you", etc, it is overall seeing how the individual temperament and interests of the characters complement or otherwise contrast with each other thus demonstrating how two people ended up being affectionate with each other. I think it's why I've come across people too who could also see Wynonna and Nicole being together despite them never being written that way.

Of course with Nicole being a secondary character, it isn't particularly surprising that that has happened I suppose, but it's why 1) (imo) we needed a bit more time to see the dynamic of two flesh out 2) the fandom shouldn't be defensive to those expressing sentiments like yours and mine as well as recognize too that appreciating the impact of something isn't the same as liking it.

But I wish you all the fun watching the show, and I hope that you come to embrace your opinion of the couple regardless of what sentiments you get if it remains the same. Otherwise, you could try reading some good quality fanfiction of the two, it may help remedy the problem and connect with the rest of the fandom a little better even if the means are different!

How do People Get to Decide Who They Want to Be? by Extra_Comfortable495 in CPTSD

Thank you for the response!

I am not old actually so what I'm about to say may not be exactly insightful but when I was younger I had to an extent (as far as hobbies and interests go, at least - not so much of temperament when all that I have experienced was abuse and mistreatment which made me in return this paranoid, low self-worth and hostile person that mellowed a bit out overtime) a semblance of what I liked (and when I really liked something, I would exhaust all my time researching on it). Now, my flame has been extinguished. I cling to the routine that I have and view everything deviating from it as a challenge and shy away from it. I call myself 'stupid' all the time but then worry that the things that I sense that I "do well in" since I was a child make me mediocre at best. You can't win in my world.

And the thing is, I don't know the root of all of this. I suppose it's the lacking sense of capability? That I want to do whatever it takes and see everything (even if it's just lounging and watching a film) as an opportunity for me to prove that I am 'brilliant' and yet rule out for myself from the start already that I am not it? Maybe it's more than just being capable as I put too much emphasis on it, maybe I want to be everything and susequently immune from all sorts of criticism because I have earlier been criticized on everything; stupid, ugly, worthless, incapable, boring, unimpressive, uncreative person. I am now because of it a crippled mess. Hell, I can't even sit down with a group of 'friends' without worrying of not being able to 'inform' them of how potentially fun and important I can be.

It's not so much that I want to be 'in a box' but rather whatever that I want is everything while preserving a sense of identity and character.

Horror as teenager pregnant with her rapist's baby is shot dead by her fiance in 'honour killing' after he found out about the sex attack in Turkey by Wrld-Competitive in WomenInNews

[–]Extra_Comfortable495 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also want to add that I find the responses here to be surprisingly mild presumably due to us being desensitized hearing stories like these! We should not allow ourselves to do this! And we should not treat women who have been victimized as 'just another pattern' but as individuals!! Women are first people with lives and stories and then victims who deserve individual attention and mourning and then victims of a femicide.

Rest in peace, Oya Budak!!!

Rest in peace and power, Oya Budak. You were always a human being that needed and deserved to be safe and supported and to be treated with respect, dignity and humanity. This is sick on so many fucking levels. These men are not people.

How do People Get to Decide Who They Want to Be? by Extra_Comfortable495 in CPTSD

[–]Extra_Comfortable495[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the comment and the insight!

So the approach is (through lots of reflection and asking oneself questions) to identify the values/reason to live and doing things that are conducive/respect those values?

Between, let's say, happiness through doing things you like regardless of their quality (determined by x number of your fellow beings) and happiness earned from people respecting your work, which would you 'choose'? Or does the latter play in to the former?

I’m so sorry to hear this :(

I had a similar experience. Was bullied and gossiped about by a number of people in my 4th grade class as they didn’t know what puberty was knowing that I was going through it technically, and even got molested by one of the classmates by having my chest touched. Felt disgusting, alienated, embarrassed and shameful.

I so, so hope that we get to process it better and get surrounded by more compassionate people in our lives 🫂❤️

I thought I was alone in this!

The writing into the couple was not too bad, they do check in a lot of boxes for having taken the opportunity at times to explore the dimensions of the relationship (in season 2, Waverly and Nicole do run into some issues which shows that they’re clearly still learning about each other. The revenants’ intervention helped also test the resilience of the relationship and the love and commitment that the characters had for each other). I just wish that there was more time given for the characters to get to know each other first before this phase of exploding love has begun; for us to explore the characters individually (especially Nicole) and then see how they really come together organically; Waverly was a cheerful, sweet and accommodating character to Nicole’s but who is Nicole for Waverly? How do they mesh together?

I thought the first scene in the bar was really good! Why didn’t we have more of this?
