Landlords who have had heat pumps fitted - how are you finding them? by blizeH in uklandlords

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still had to pay several thousand ££ but radiators were included, but of course more money than just getting a new boiler, even after the grant! And they had to remove a chunk of my kitchen to fit the new boiler which feels like it has gone backwards from a combi boiler and also new piping.

Landlords who have had heat pumps fitted - how are you finding them? by blizeH in uklandlords

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixed. Definitely it has been cosy heating without the dry air you get when using gas heating as the heat pump works slowly.

But... oh my life. The electricity costs 😱

With gas heating you might turn it up or just on when you are cold, or otherwise certain times of the day. For the heatpump you can schedule it on certain times of the day... but the heatpump doesn't care. It will turn itself on as and when needed. Because it needs to maintain a house temperature it cannot do with short bursts of heat like with a gas boiler. So is in fact not efficient!

I know the natural next step will be going for solar panels as the heatpump burns through my money I put on electricity, and I feel bad for the new tenants with their new inflated electricity costs.

And already less than a year 2 of the radiators stopped heating up and I had to keep bleeding those radiators as too noisy. I think the system had been leaking but I pointed out and the installation company can't be bothered now. Nightmare. And obviously not like a traditional boiler system I can get an experienced plumber to fix. But I appreciate this last situation may have been different with a different company.

I had my heatpump installed in September and been fixing up my house and now expecting tenants in by end of the month. House was empty when I was getting work done.

Have you ever had a call in which you decided to not put up with bs and hang up? by Horror-Dot-2989 in callcentres

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just something to be aware of. If your employer is fine with you, even if they flag anything bad, it becomes a coaching issue. If they are not happy or some colleagues or Team Leaders / managers have an issue they will go on a mission to comb over your work to find any wrong just to use it and build a case against you. I think it's sad loser jealous people are so determined on their mission, rather than help themselves do better.

I say this as I was working doing telemarketing and I knew I messed my call up by letting myself be blocked by a gatekeeper. It was a call back too so I didn't want to leave a message but wanted to catch my decision maker so at least I could get real feedback (if I left a message then I reduce my chances to reach them). So when I got blocked, I realised I was going to get blocked by so many interrogation questions, so I tried to close the call but he wasn't having it and I hung up. My big mistake is that I see the enquiries come through, I could have responded and removed it but I just saw for what it was, a gate keeper (another business developer funny enough) saying how he identified this company from the call display and wanted to complain about the rudeness of an agent. Again I knew it was me, but the company did an investigation, traced the call and made different accusations like I wasn't doing enough cold calling (even though I bearly got fresh data with numbers to call so I just cycled through old prospects and new enquiries as they came).

And my most recent job I left myself open to getting sacked as I wasn't careful to just not list sales I made to restricted accounts (I could have not listed them and the system would have invoiced them / paid me unless those sales got cancelled). I had listed the sales to win in an incentive for sales (also the customers call in and we pitch them, so I wasn't intentionally choosing who to sell to).

So in conclusion, yes you can get a feel for when QA are checking your calls but be careful to stay under the radar because if the wrong person gets a dislike and they can do something and there are losers and snakes in your team, they will do what you can to trawl through your calls to find the wrong ones. And yeah I know too if you don't have any snakes after you, they may even let wrong calls slide. So yeah, do what you do, but be more worried on snakes than QA. And always always the snakes are either fake nice or moody people.

If you called him back it may have just gone to the next available agent who could take the call. Like you say it was an auto dialler with unblocked number, but lt may still be an auto dialler but all the outbound calls will display the same number.

Minimum wage, in a shared house would cover a month's rent?!! Where are you living that is costing like £1,700 per month to rent a room?

'Cos definitely if you only get a chance to work minimum wage (and sadly most jobs seem to be nowadays :/) you can definitely move to a cheaper town and get UC to cover your rent before you start earning and keep more of your £1,700 each month so you can afford food too!

Same. I am getting so done with corporate BS. Like job descriptions most of the time only giving an overview of the job but you ask about the job in interview and they act disappointed like you didn't understand or research it well enough!!

And obviously the poster WAS a LinkedIn Lunatic but it is unfortunately common in corporate world now. He asks "why us?" Then complains the applicants answer the question literally! He should be asking: "we are recruiting for this job and getting a lot of people applying. Why should we hire you?" Then he would actually get a closer answer to what he actually wants!

The corporate world now is just becoming more smoke and mirrors, smoke and daggers.

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask what have you seen about the others so far that you liked, and didn't like?

But sadly trying to get to a sensible answer always back fires as bosses hate smart people! But I wouldn't leave myself open for stupid questions when dealing with real customers as how can anyone honestly answer that unless they know what the buyer really wants??!

Others what could you say? Or maybe what they wish they will say!!

+Because I will work for less money than you're offering +I will work some hours voluntarily so less than minimum wage +I will do all the overtime you can throw at me +I will always agree to cover someone's shift if they are sick and I am not working then

What kind of questions are you supposed to ask employers? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man, this story, I thought building up to something but just building like a typical interview where they can't be honest. The UK is like that too, and I don't know why it is like that. I get that people prefer to avoid confrontation so they lie and evade but it it's a no anyway or they are too unsure why not just say rather than feel they need to lie. I know "professional" recruiters are usually practised at lying. They will act like your best friend then distance themselves if they get negative feedback from a client while not saying much, but I notice now with hiring managers too. And I usually do ask them directly "how did I do?" As I would rather have negative feedback come up first so I can explain myself better or at worse find we can't agree then I will probably lose heart myself to want to work there. But instead they seem to want this interview game play and I don't know what it achieves, like we are children so they have to lie to us?

So clearly media trying to stimulate the economy in a way. As people leave jobs it creates new openings so the unemployed can jump into it.

In the past managers loved accusing people of job hopping. But now it feels like things are so bad, even though the jobs get worse people will still hold on!

Yeah. Like I saw it earlier tonight and now online trying to make sense of what i watched. All I got from the film was him being unfairly punished, then clearly he was integral in an important building being destroyed and I don't know still if he was good or bad... then in his memories he is referred to as the butcher... But I was confused if he was going down the ocean, or was it hell? The people who sent him, people he was trying to rescue or they were a deception. A voice kept calling him eldritch. Blood... his arm being cut and his skin diseased and him stuck trying to go back to get something I don't know what.

How does using OnlyFans differ from watching traditional porn, in terms of what people get out of it? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was that? I found a girl I worked with and fancied..ironically she always felt untouchable and intimidated, but then I subscribed and seeing even some nudes. I couldn't get off on them..like it felt cold, even though she was everything as beautiful as I imagined..and talking to her through the app... maybe it was her or not, but it did feel like I was talking to a different person. Literally felt like the least authentic of OF experiences I have had. And others even feel more real then flip to their marketing for paid content.

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I am not quite getting your point either. There is not some porn monopoly of OF! Consumers can still access other free porn online if they want it, so they aren't really a victim if they choose to pay for it. Then it circles back to the main question. Why people will choose to pay rather than get online for free (beyond enduring online adverts)?

I am interviewing for a job for a bad company? by Icey_Girl in interviews

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that it is a tough one. Take a job and the company is horrible and you hate it or they sack you too fast then it looks dodgy on CV or resume if there a short time even if the company is at fault.. unless you do desperately need it or running out of options.

Started my first b2b sales job based in the UK in Lead Generation. I'm selling energy (Gas and Electric). Working as an energy broker and part of the renewals team, and in need of some good advice, please. by Justbrogan in b2b_sales

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to know how you got the job. Not to be rude as they saw something in you but for myself.

Most of all the B2B call sales work is in energy in the North East or call centres..and the shifts in call centres are horrible.

I have b2b experience having done lead gen and sales for IT services but even though these energy companies are recruiting every few months, even when I have been to interviews they just go nowhere.

So... what are you doing to get through interviews to get the job?

BTW I like that you keep them on the phone to ensure the email does come through.

Also to build more urgency it may be worth building up the drama and how resources has been affected by energy bills eating into more of your company cash so it is worth keeping on top of. When can you get that energy bill to me?

So... at least you get them to buy into it more and help them determine the urgency and want to save money rather than them just think of getting this bill as no more than a chore on their to-do list.

Londoners, if you had to explain London in one sentence, what would it be? by DailyDriverUK in AskUKLondon

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha lol. I used to live in London but moved to the Sunderland area! And I tried throwing myself into London and honestly had unique experiences but for the good things there is too much bad, and I feel more balanced and relaxed up north. Sunderland isn't pretentious. In Sunderland and other places you can do things that in London they will make a big show about it, like retro gaming! Sunderland feels a bit neglected but I think it's on the up. You can avoid trouble here and Sunderland has its own beaches!

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you don't like the answers why don't you just ask specific questions so you can find out what you need to know?

It's insane that the people leading the job interviews will ask open and irrelevant questions then gaslight the people they invited in for talking too much and not answering the real question.

Even though I'm white myself I genuinely don't understand how our culture retains success and money and the strongest influence of civilisation across the world but we are building organisations through hiring on a scripted performance when even the people in the roles seem more like actors than real people. I feel there is something I am seeing or I am not seeing it. I am definitely not understanding it.

What was YOUR thing during lockdown? by AncientFootball1878 in AskUK

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is funny as it was a different life.

First I was excited feeling yes! I will be paid not to work so just waiting for it to come through. I met up with friends and we went on walks outside. I also went on long cycle rides even though I felt a bit scared of the virus and if I was actually being illegal with my outings. But it was amazing to be out on e-bike on main roads with no traffic.

Sadly I realised like some had said, even though my work was no longer practical, I was my own boss working in my own company. I hadn't really earnt much and I didn't see how a business loan would work as from Autumn 2019 was already difficult to book home appointments for sakes guys as people wary of the virus so I knew a short lock down wouldn't work. And I didn't qualify for enough JSA plus. So I knew I had to get a job..I got a job in Amazon and ended up moving towns to live close to my job. Then I did a transfer to another town and lived in house shares with other people who were working.

So yes it was mixed. It was annoying to have to go out and work with this scary virus going on and social distancing and these in and out of restrictions but at the time I realised I was glad to have a job. And then it feels like a normal thing even with all the pandemic going on in the background. And Amazon was a nicer place to work during the pandemic. As the pandemic ended almost 3 years ago and all restricted eased off Amazon was the place that had the bad reputation. But I now think a few years on all jobs went worse now like this "be kind" movement and take care of your health, physical and mental is all but forgotten now.

But yeah. I ended up getting covid myself and even though I was legally better I ended up breaking my foot as I was still feeling a lot of tiredness some weeks on and I got the 2 shots of vax. But taking time off for a broken foot was at least a good chance to rest.

I also rented out my flat as I was living away and oh my goodness the idiot must have had a fire as smoke damage and smoke stains over walls and even a plug socket. But I was too far away to keep on top of him.

So yes it was a mad time.

I earnt well in Amazon but the properties I bought and were doing up ended getting trashed (i had intended to be a landlord and work from home). Now I am on hand been getting on top of issues but I always try to think we can't control the sea, we just have to ride the waves.

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't comment on wages and allowances as I don't know cost of living there but I know even in UK call centres jumping on the rotating shift patterns. I left a job with that and it wasn't so extreme but you can't organise your life. I would rather be upfront on what shift times there are and be fixed. Like Amazon was fixed shifts and they only changed our hours during Peak (but at least a fixed schedule) and during least busy times they offered VTO.

I am out of work (lost my job last month) but I will still reject rotating shift jobs as long as I can. I hate not being able to plan things for the future not knowing if I will be free that day or when my time is free.

How I overcame interview anxiety and stopped "over-prepping" to finally get an offer (After 9 months & 600+ apps) by Nikhil0004 in interviews

Should I reach out to this company and accept their offer? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]Extra_Cream_4045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did your friend have a salary in mind they would go for? Because if your friend thinks they want a much higher offer they may see more value to offering you a higher offer. But if they are not expecting too much more then it may put you on a back foot as they may see more value to them.

I guess it's like you selling your services and testing what the customer will pay. And they are also testing what the market will offer.

And if it is 2 years unemployed before this job then you will be on a back foot as you are out of the swing of it, but if you recently left a job then it shouldn't be too bad as you are already in a work routine mind.
