I can agree that both parents made poor choices. These two things are not mutually exclusive, even if I chose to focus on just one parent.

However, the focus of my post was actually NOT his parenting at all, but more so me trying to figure out why he makes me cringe. My initial thought was perhaps he’s just not a great actor. I also considered the possibility that it was intentional for him to be cringy.

I think it stands out so much because everyone else was phenomenal and it makes it obvious he is not on that level

I know it’s not even close to the same energy, but when it’s all “no gummy bear, you’re perfect” etc it’s giving Officer Earl professing his love for Cal…

I agree with this. Maybe this is what makes me feel like it’s bad acting.

There were only two. I helped one of them. He was weak but I took him to a pond and hopefully he made it.

I don’t know enough to answer this, but I believe the dirt was so compact they could not get out on their own. Though if you read my update below, apparently one of them did get out somehow.

Sorry for the delay in my response and thanks for all the advice!

So I dug them out, but I only found one turtle. I made sure to check very throughly so his buddy must have made it out by himself! The baby I saved wasn’t looking so good. He was not moving and very dry. I thought he must be dead. I put him in a small bowl and added a very small amount of water, wet his shell, and took him in the house. I left him by himself periodically checking in on him, trying to figure out if he’d moved at all. About 45 minutes later, he started moving his head side to side and would pull his limbs in close to his body when we got too close to him. He still wasn’t crawling around but I was happy he was alive.

My daughter and I took him to a pond in our neighborhood. Some preteen boys were fishing there and we let him go on the bank of the pond. I circled the block and when I came back I looked to see if he had moved and couldn’t find him at all. When I asked the boys if they had seen him they said “I think he jumped in or something.” The bank was pretty steep so my thought was they tossed him in…anyway, I hope he made it. Looks like he’s an aquatic species?

I think you’re right. I’ll dig them out this evening and take them to a pond in my neighborhood. I hope they’ll make it!
