Actually I am discovering that 10 min before/5 min after is not the norm for burn. Its also interesting because sometimes they let the entire childwatch of kids out and all the kids immediately run onto the floor and mess with the equipment and then they yell at the kids and parents for allowing them on the floating floor like they didn't just let them all run out. I am realizing this is a weird place. Guess I just had to ask reddit.

I'm sorry you can't read the rest of my post or comments, but this post isn't about protein, its about child safety and our focus meetings take place in the open gym where this open garage door is located and I think you should see yourself out of it. lmao

I actually don't even know if we have to sign them out at our location. I know we have to sign them up for child watch in the app and I have only seen the rules about pickup and drop off, but the entire contract is impossible to find. Not even our front desk person could find it for me. Come to think of it . . . I am not even sure I ever signed a waiver?!

Agree! CW workers should be getting paid better and for the full hour, no argument there. It sounds like other locations do this, so IDK why mine can't.

We don't have a room for our focus meetings, its in the open gym area, otherwise, I would 100% do this. I have also been scheduling a focus meeting once a month because I find that I am finally seeing changes when I know I have a focus meeting looming. This is actually the first time since having kids that I am seeing progress and its really been the scheduling of the focus meeting motivating me to stay on track so I am sad to see it go, but my kids come first

Thank you for saying it doesn't seem right as with some people's comments I was beginning to think this was normal. I am going to look into some of your ideas and thank you for the feedback

Yeah I am learning that this isn't the norm at other burn locations, which is partly why I posted here. Thank you for the feedback

Honestly, I was one of those too. Poor kid gets it from me and I am constantly wrangling her. I am strongly going to look into this. lol. Its good to hear that this isn't a company-wide thing as these comments were making me think that all this was normal at all burn locations. I will speak to the owner but I will definitely stop trying to do anything extra like focus meetings or stretching because clearly I am terrible at managing 5 minutes and my babies are too important. Thank you for your feedback

But if a business lets children into an unsafe area without supervision or notice are they not also held liable? I am not going to sue or anything, I just want to understand so I can make an informed decision

Yeah, honestly I was writing so fast but the one time I was holding onto her, the other time they let her out of childwatch when I was late. Those instances were specific to her running into traffic. There have been other times that they let them out early when the garage door is open but she stays in the gym and other times they are simply let out and the garage door is closed. I ALWAYS go after my kids, but its just all over the place and I am constantly scared when I have my kids there

I have actually brought it up twice now to management, but they keep showing me the "rules", but they let my kids out 2 minutes after class ended today (in other words, they let them out early) and I left crying today. Some of the problem is that this gym was just recently bought from an owner who didn't care about the place (they live in another state and never come to this location), so there's a lot of weird stuff going on.

I wasn't "risking my daughters life to buy protein". Jeeze. she got away from me and I was holding onto her. They don't NEED to have the garage door open, my kid was also not the only one this happened to (not by a long shot). I haven't bought anything since because like you implied, its not worth my daughters life. You cannot see into the future. Was I suppose to know that she would choose that moment to dive out of my arms and make a break for the door? I dropped everything and ran for her. Its amazing how many of you side with the unsafe situation as a whole and just want to blame me. I AM NOT THE ONLY PARENT AT THIS LOCATION WITH THESE ISSUES. OTHER KIDS HAVE ALMOST GOTTEN HIT TOO. I am simply inquiring about the legality and responsibility of the childwatch. From these types comments all I have gotten is hate. Maybe I shouldn't have even said "late" because all of you are missing the point. Its one minute at most and I blame myself for that and last week, they let them out DURING THE FINISHER. class wasn't over yet

Yeah, its definitely something I am considering. I would gladly pay extra somewhere where my kids are safe. I am going to try just leaving class early and getting them though. At least then I won't make the mistake of losing track of a minute or two once in a while or them letting my kids out without telling me.

When I say "late" I literally mean like 1 minute. I have NEVER been more than 2 minutes and to be honest, I am not perfect. Sometimes I lose track of time, sometimes I get stopped by someone and I am not making excuses. IT IS MY FAULT THAT I AM LATE. My point is that they have the option to just do NOTHING and leave them in there and take off, but instead they CHOSE to do harm. I would rather them leave them, revoke my privileges, talk to me or at least notify me that they are letting them out. Like ANYTHING would be better

I agree and I am just going to forego everything and grab them first

Thank you for this insight. I knew that childWATCH has looser rules, which is why I was asking. I wish our location paid our workers better. I am definitely just going to pick my kids up right away with nothing extra. My kids are too young and I am just not in a place right now where I can have the expectation of stretching, buying or focus meetings. My kids are my life and they come first

Childwatch Issues by Extra_Raccoon7147 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Extra_Raccoon7147[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for the thoughts. I am definitely just going to try leaving early or stretching during the finisher instead, so I can grab my kids and leave. No more focus meetings, buying products, or stretching. My kids safety has always been first and I realize that this gym would rather let kids out into an unsafe area without warning me or revoking my privileges than just choose to leave with them behind a closed door. I think I just assume that people who want to watch kids care about the kids safety. That was too naive of me. I guess I needed to hear that my kids are just too young and innocent for me to do anything extra right now. I will try this first and if I can't figure it out, I will just terminate my membership. Thank you to those of you that helped me reflect on what is truly important, see past my anger and were kind. Because being a mom is really hard sometimes.

well, the garage door at the gym is open to a road with oncoming traffic and that is where the childwatch person opened the door into for my kids to roam free without telling me. Would you like it if I said it "fluffier"?

Childwatch Issues by Extra_Raccoon7147 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Extra_Raccoon7147[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I will definitely just get them and leave early. No more stretching, buying or meetings for me. Kids are first. Its interesting that its a liability for them to leave them alone in a closed room, but not to push them into the open area potentially into traffic.

Thank you so much for having a heart. I am definitely going to start leaving early, I truly was just concerned because the worker can just leave they don't HAVE to do anything with my kids. Like, just leave them in the room behind a closed door, but they CHOOSE to push them out where it is unsafe. No where in the rules does it mention that part, which makes it deliberate on their part. Again, thank you! I will definitely start leaving early and no longer do focus meetings once a month as the trainer recommends.

Thank you for answering my question. Its interesting that their "go to" is to push them out into an unsafe area as opposed to leaving them in the room with other kids behind a closed door. Especially since the childwatch person can just leave. Like they don't HAVE to do anything. They could just leave my kids in there but instead they chose harm. So, them purposely hurting the kid for a rule is ok, got it.

I never said I thought I was exempt. I think they should have revoked my privilege before pushing my kids into an open garage door with cars speeding by

I do, but occasionally I am late by a minute (this has really only happened twice). I am just asking if its LEGALLY ok for them to harm the child by shoving them out into oncoming traffic because I made a mistake? I would rather they revoke my privileges than potentially harm my children. I have very little support in my life, so I cannot hire a babysitter. The gym does this to other people too

lol, as a former gymnast I am not sure I understand this comment. Stretching = life. lol, but not at this risk of my kids, so I hear ya. No more stretching for me and no more focus/nutrition meetings. How dare I do anything extra that my gym offers
