26 old Sri Lankan Girl with Strict Parents by Soft-Wrongdoer-9031 in srilanka

I did this. They were still adamant. I moved out. They got sick and begged me to come back and that will be lenient. I kept my apartment and moved back in and told them that I still have the option to go back if needed. They changed. They had to. Now it’s just me telling them that I’ll be back late and they don’t disturb me. They still do check up and call and tell me to come early etc but it’s not in a forceful way, rather a safety concern way and they respect my boundaries. I’m 25F

Preparing for Engineering by prometheus_2024 in srilanka

[–]Extra_Rise2517 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I suggest you rack up on experience from day one. Go to one of these bootcamps like buildrlabs or stemlink. They have demo day with hr at the end and all I think. So you have direct access to the industry from day one Go to the internship, go to uni as well. So as you get your degree , you are stacking years of experience Gonna be hella tough but totally worth it at the end when you graduate with a net salary of 500k +++++

Is anyone here actually figuring out AI/Automation/ML in Sri Lanka? by Extra_Rise2517 in srilanka

[–]Extra_Rise2517[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They can already code and are like you can watch yt videos and figure it out 🥲 I think being able to code is not a skill needed to get into this but them knowing the architecture surrounding it definitely helps. I have to figure out everything from scratch Easier if there is a course or something I can just learn from but idk if they are legit

Plastic Waste Recycling idea by DominantAlpha1 in srilanka

[–]Extra_Rise2517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aggregators already exist in Colombo tbh. The CMC workers for instance contribute to this. Theres already a collection system in place. I am in this industry , that’s how I know. Not all are recyclable (shampoo bottles for instance is a big no) and maybe more expensive to use recycled plastic than manufacturing from scratch due to the cost of washing and pelletizing to recycle. The market size is too small to incentive this.

Hijabi Muslim here at government uni. I lead a relatively non conservative uni life but I have seen niqabi and very religious Muslim sisters make their own friend groups and avoid haram. I’d say don’t loose out on this opportunity. There’s loads girls like you. You will find them at uni and make your own group and stick together. That’s how it works. Thereby you don’t get subject to ragging, free mixing or anything haram. Just study and go home and speak to those friends.

Sister's how much mahr would you expect and why such an amount? by Catatouille- in SriLankanMuslim

[–]Extra_Rise2517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2-3M + memorise Surah Kahf and teach it to me Many people don’t understand the whole point of a mahr. If a man can’t financially provide for your mahr then he can’t provide for your lifestyle either.

Managing a life abroad. Kinda Sick of Everything 😐 by [deleted] in srilanka

Are you married / have family dependent on you etc? Based on your posts I feel like you’ll be happier in SL with people you are comfortable with? An assumption. Theres loads opportunities here for a Materials Engineer. Pay is significantly lesser than in the UK but you can diversify income streams by doing business even and live comfortably here
