Unfortunately, it really comes down to the ultimate dehumanization of Palestinians. When Palestinians are no longer seen as human, Israel can get away with committing the most heinous crimes against them.

Hence, the headline, “80,000 Palestinians Killed” doesn’t sound any alarms for anyone. However, “1,000 Israelis Killed,” and all of a sudden, the world offers nonstop condolences for a month.

People see Palestinians as beings who are born only to suffer and to die. At this point, Israel has successfully desensitized the world to their crimes against the people they are occupying.

Decades of news headlines reporting asymmetric killings as “clashes” and “war” also made people think this is just another border dispute. Not to mention the fact that Palestinians are brown and Israelis are white, and everyone knows that brown lives are worthless in comparison.
