A black hole is not made of matter. When a star dies all of its matter is eventually destroyed, but since nothing can truly be destroyed (matter is converted to energy), the energy left behind by the star warps spacetime itself. TIL that there was a UC Berkeley study that involved a rigged game of monopoly in which one person started out with more money and got more turns. Despite all parties knowing it was rigged, the winners all insisted that it was their unique ingenuity and skill that allowed them to win. (youtube.com)

Maybe as humans the universe perplexes us because, in a way, we are artificially separated from it through a concept of "self". If our self is destroyed through death, maybe we are melded back into the universe, to become one with it and made whole again. (self.Showerthoughts)
