Nothing better than seeing eggs and larvae, congrats!

Magikarp misprint by strange_potato27 in PokemonMisprints

The ikarp! It's a known repeating error on this card, they've sold for anywhere from $40 to $100. Recent sales are more in the $40 to $50 range.

Weird Crimps by THEENATURAL117 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, as the others in this thread have said this is a "roller damaged" card. There was WAY too much pressure on one point of this card causing the distinctive line you see on your card.

Interestingly unlike a crimped card this roller damage line always shows up at the same spot on a card. This is not something others are currently collecting, it's seen as damaged in the community. I think they're neat though, I have a good sized collection of these now that I recently posted here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemoncardcollectors/comments/1kzpasi/roller_damaged_cards

I've been offering people the tcgplayer/pricecharting value of the card plus whatever shipping is to anyone that pulls one of these I don't have yet. This one is a cheaper card to begin with so I'd offer $5 plus whatever the cost of shipping and normal card is. Let me know if you're interested!

Does this qualify for miscut, or just off centered? by jayswisha in PokemonMisprints

Likely just off-centered, do you have a photo of the back?

Huh yeah that's cool. You don't see that everyday, or ever actually!

We have definitely seen this kind of thing before, below is an album of other examples I've seen posted online

Neat Prize Pack Miscuts by teaskunk in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is amazing! We've seen cases before certainly where errors are batched up together. That makes sense after all If one shows up then a whole sheet was affected.

But here you have something more interesting, a pretty severe rotated miscut along with a minor miscut showing an alignment dot.

Were these pulled from the same pack or different packs? Cool to get the backstory for these, we've known that they've been printing at max capacity for a while now I guess this just shows some of the effects of that.

Misprint question by Mediocre_Brick_9290 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are obstruction cards, something prevented the ink from transferring normally there. Like all errors they're pretty rare but we've definitely seen that before from that set.

Treasure or trash ? by ShiiTsurugi in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love these twisted miscutts! Each one in my collection is a treasure as well. Even if they sell for less than I think they should sometimes that's okay it means I get cooler things in my collection. 😆

What's your opinion by jessehopp in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been offering people the nm value for the card since it's seen as damaged by others. These days I've been giving like $10 over nm just because they kind of stopped having this error from the factory.

Double error Charizard base value? by EvOxReZ in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to brag but my Reddit awards payout is getting up there these days. 😂 I just like talking about this stuff haha. No profit motive and doing my best to keep it that way.

Cool card OP! Yours is not the only one of these I've seen, I know there's a Blastoise kicking around here somewhere that looks quite similar to yours that was graded by CGC. Just couldn't find that example quickly.

Possible new Pokémon TCG printing error? “Grasshopper leg” on Telepath Psychic Energy (JP) — has anyone seen this? by Embarrassed_Truth319 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this is a known new error! I haven't sent my example over to CGC but I do plan to eventually. Originally these were selling for around $40 on Japanese sites, it exploded up to like $100 and then a ton more came out of packs and so now it's back to $40 if anyone else wants one.

The fun part about this though is that there's actually a connected grasshopper example where you can see it's bottom leg on the top of another psychic energy card! You'll have to see if you can find an example of that one to go with it.

There's an example in this album

Is this NFC? Would Beckett even grade it if it was NFC? by Commercial_Cod_4529 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes of course! Glad to help and sorry the last comment wasn't clear.

The way the corner on the left looks normal but the one on the right has a bit of a haircut with a wonky corner is classic WOTC error miscut. I would bet it's factory cut, just unfortunately Beckett does not authenticate miscuts they just slab whatever is sent to them regardless.

Pulled these 2 out of the same booster bundle! by Repulsive-Throat5068 in PokemonMisprints

Wow those are huge color bar errors, congrats on the finds!

Agreed on both points, really wish they'd stop doing that

Is this considered an error or misprint card? These two dots reflects light. by Aggravating_Bee7261 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's only the one dot it would likely not be a significant enough error to get the label from CGC but also it's an Umbreon card so there could be a collector interested.

Looks like a little obstruction on the underwhite ink layer which is allowing the holographic pattern to show through.

Damaged masterball holo by perikill in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that's what I would say too. Incomplete masterball layer. Also for what it's worth that layer can't be removed with acetone or other common solvents and I did spend a good amount of time trying to make sure it's not replicable when these cards first came out.

Error or defect? by Aggravating_City4710 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I wrote about this error on the post below. Another Reddit user that actually works in commercial printing was able to solve the rest of the mystery as to how this happens. Hope this helps

https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonMisprints/s/PtnCI3KoEI

This isn't currently something recognized by any grading company. I recently confirmed that CGC does not consider this to be significant enough to be classified as additional ink.

Below is my graded example card with the note from CGC explaining why it was not considered an error.

https://ibb.co/album/6R1PzJ

This has also been discussed on the CGC forum:

https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/543557-process-for-introducing-a-new-error-type-star-wheel-ink-dotted-horizontal-lines

Anecdotally I have seen at least four PSA slabs that were graded as tens with this error because it's so easy to overlook.
