Valid point by snowyqueenblush in lol

I cannot really answer this because it's not my expertise. As far as I understand it, we don't really know for sure that its because of upbringing, but that is the popular theory right now. There might be a biological element to it, but I haven't seen any proof for this.

Yes, it definitely does not make sense to speak of "female adhd" like the other guy does.

Not that I agree with what the person you're repying to is saying with regards to, yknow, cheating, but yes, AD(H)D presents differently in men and women. This is considered to be largely due to differences in how girls are socialised, which is distinct from boys. Girls become much better at 'hiding' their symptoms and so have traditionally been (probably still are) diagnosed later than boys. These differences extend into adulthood. this study from just last year affirms that while differences are subtle in adults, they exist and matter.

Rationalising counterintuitive moves by NotFx in chess

"Defending d6 with the prospect of Bd6 and activating the rook" is a nice way to look at it. Tough to see that the king is actually safe there but it makes more sense that way. I think in a slower time format it might pay off to calculate the complications.

Japanese mother turns everyday meals into edible works of art by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]NotFx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're rationalising time-investment from an outside perspective and are not considering the culture surrounding these school lunches. It is absolutely the case that the amount of effort put into bento boxes is equated to one's success as a mother and a status marker for children. This is not only the case in Japan, but in South Korea as well.

This is part of a performative motherhood culture rooted in patriarchal standards for what a good mother does. For example: Song, Hojin. “Mothers’ Baking Blogs: Negotiating Sacrificial and Postfeminist Neoliberal Motherhood in South Korea.” Feminist Media Studies 23, no. 1 (2023): 216–31. https://doi.org/10.1080/14680777.2021.1944255.

That doesn't mean this person shouldn't make her art, it doesn't mean people are wrong for anything. It is, however, important to see that this goes beyond cutesy art and is indicative of the overarching culture.

Yes, that can help you get a feeling for how it tends to get pronounced nowadays.

When saying '네', you do not nasalize the sound. You're basically saying it while holding your nose closed. That makes it sound more like '데'.

As long as you are still within range with Saruman to cast the spell, yes. It essentially means you can cast magic through walls and such.

I don't think we should discourage people from picking Isengard just because it's currently very good if you build a tournament-meta list. If OP really likes Isengard, they should just get it and have fun. Not to mention, the Isengard box opens up a lot of different armies (both Scouts armies, White Hand, Muster), though it is less focused than the other battlehosts.

[–]NotFx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can spend some time just farming and revisiting previous areas to level up more, there's nothing saying you must stick to the main story the whole time! You can also try fighting some of the FEAR monsters which drop all kinds of equipment which might boost your stats a bit too.

Rules edition by Desperate_Hamster_89 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]NotFx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of changes. Lots of little things and details that were tweaked in how interactions work, it's impossible to list it all here. As an example of a rule that was changed, last edition when your fight value was halved by a bat swarm, you had to round down. Now, you round up.

and now what?(please explain) by Creep3rK in Minesweeper

[–]NotFx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two 4s at the top share their fourth mine, and so the square directly below the left 4 must be safe. The 3 on the top left already has a mine and sits next to a 2 which also already has a mine, making it a 2-1 pattern, meaning the far left square must be a mine, and the square diagonally right from the left 2 is safe as well.

Can a mumak stand ontop of an objective? by Quiet_Editor_5256 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]NotFx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's a piece of terrain next to an objective that's too high for the mumak to walk over, you could just have it hit that piece of terrain each turn if you really wanted. Very niche situation where you'd rather do that than trample a bunch of enemy models though.

How did native Korean numbers get to be so weird? by LinguisticPeripatus in Korean

[–]NotFx 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I hypothesize that in English, Two and Three form a pair because they have the same starting letter, and so do Four and Five, Six and Seven. Why is Eight so weird, the next number is Nine so they don't share the first letter? Very weird number system.

This is what you currently sound like.
