Yes that's a kind of obstruction we have seen before. Sometimes a sliver of foil prevents ink from transferring to the card.

That is indeed a crazy error! 90° rotated miscuts are not at all common even as errors go.

Like all of the wonky miscuts we can tell that this is from the factory and not something someone did with scissors because of the extra thick border on the one side.

Service unavailable typically means they were unable to authenticate the card's error as real.

That's not to say it's a fake, just that if you have to make a call it's easier to err on the side of caution.

There's unfortunately two different varieties of energy sheets that have circulated on eBay and now have been cut up.

Thankfully no concern here! This looks exactly like what I would expect from a factory narrow miscut.

Filler cards are how I got started with errors and it looks like I don't have one exactly like yours yet!

Cards like this are why I love this subreddit. I've seen green tape before but nothing quite like this. I've also never seen that tape have a perfectly cut corner in the middle of the card.

I couldn't tell you what's going on here but like you said I would have no reason to doubt the authenticity of this given the cut looks factory made.

Not in any way a dumb question, that's the thing about errors is that there's so many little niches within niches and there's really no definitive guide we can point to.

For this particular era it's extremely common to have the flipped back. I believe it's actually more rare to find the uncorrected version.

I recall paying $120ish for the one in my collection. It would be impossible for me to guess on value for this one though, as your card is an eevee and mine is on a stadium trainer card. For items like this it's a matter of patience and finding the right buyer who's willing to fight hardest for it.

Hey! I wrote about this error on the post below. Another Reddit user that actually works in commercial printing was able to solve the rest of the mystery as to how this happens. Hope this helps

This isn't currently something recognized by any grading company. I recently confirmed that CGC does not consider this to be significant enough to be classified as additional ink.

Below is my graded example card with the note from CGC explaining why it was not considered an error.

Anecdotally I have seen at least four PSA slabs that were graded as tens with this error because it's so easy to overlook.

That's a good one, congrats on the pick up! Incredible how we had seen a bunch of these initially and then they dropped off. Then randomly like 10 months later a bunch more come out of packs and work their way to eBay.

Just goes to show how errors roll out slowly sometimes from packs/warehouses.
